Yarbo Randomly Stops Charging While On Dock

New owner here. Have successfully setup, scheduled, and run a couple zones in my yard. Working great in that regard. Still have a couple of zones to map out and run, but that’ll likely be done this weekend.

One thing I’ve noticed on a couple of occasions is that my core will simply stop charging. I have no idea why. I’ll get an alert on my phone stating that my battery is low. I hop in the app, access the remote, tell the bot to start charging again, and it’ll do so without budging an inch.

My question is this… Is this expected behavior? I would think that once fully charged, it would enter maintenance mode and just sit until its next scheduled task.

I’m not super keen on the idea of having to babysit the unit while it’s sitting on the charger.

No, this is not expected behavior. First, I would unplug the battery cable for 5 mins and see if the issue persists. If so, submit a ticket so they can remote diagnose why it’s doing this.

Where is a support ticket created? I think I logged into like 3 different Yarbo sites before I found the forums

Several ways to accomplish this. In app, under the profile and then support center. Or you can email support@yarbo.com or visit the support.yarbo.com website.

Thanks much! I’ll test the battery fix tomorrow, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll get a ticket open.

Feel free to submit a support ticket if the issue still exists after trying the initial troubleshooting steps. Our support team will be happy to help investigate and get the issue resolved for you.

This is just further info for the record and not sure if the two relate.
I’ll do the troubleshooting steps then submit ticket if needed.

Mine just started doing the same in the last few of days (about the same time as I received the latest update). It used to cycle 100% down to 94% then back to 100%, which I believe it’s supposed to do. But now it just stops charging and has gotten down to 40%.

I’ve also noticed that it uses up battery faster when using it. I was able to cut the entire front and side yards on one charge. Now I get through the main front yard only and it’s down into the 30% range. This also started happening around the same time I get the update.

A Yarbo restart didn’t correct it but will disconnect the batter for a few hours to see if it changes it.

Hi there, if disconnecting the battery for a few hours still does not resolve the issue, please feel free to submit a support ticket so our team can further investigate it for you.

So, after doing some more research, I stumbled on this Reddit thread from a few years ago. A commenter suggested that the bot could roll off the charging pad.

With this in mind, I reevaluated my positioning. My dock was not on a steep incline – Maybe a couple of degrees, but it also wasn’t on flat, level ground. I surmise that it was slowly rolling forward over the course of a couple days and losing connection due to repositioning.

After repositioning my pad somewhere else in my yard, and on flatter ground, the issue seems to have gone away.

While I do appreciate the quality of the work my bot is doing on the 3 - 3.5 acres it now maintains for me, I am a little frustrated that device doesn’t have some form of locking mechanism to keep it in place while charging, nor is the logic built in to attempt to have it reposition once or twice should it unexpectedly lose its wireless charging connection, before kicking an error notice out to the owner.

By and large, I’m still happy with the purchase, but I do hope this will be looked into, and given more consideration in the future.

Both of my docks are not fully level either and I haven’t had an issue with it rolling down the dock on either. Were you able to validate that it actually did move off the yellow line on the rear of the dock? If not, it may have simply been fixed by the docking station reinstall process. However, rolling off is still a good working theory as well. Just AFAIK, it should not do this when powered.
