Last known location and Move off DS 3’

Because my DS is close to the house , Yarbo has difficulties at times picking up a strong GPS signal. I find if I manually navigate Yarbo at least 2-3’ off the docking station it will pick up GPS.

Since Yarbo is charging on the DS the software should know exactly where Yarbo is and not start Map Drift. Since Yarbo also knows, within a very small margin of error, where it is on the map while docked it should be able to move forward in a straight line by 2-3’ and pause. Once GPS was found it could continue on its own for the rest of the job.

Having this feature available would significantly reduce the GPS loss issue.

I have the same issue with mine. I nearly always have to start up the mower manually in this fashion simply because the location isn’t the best. I know, I know, I could move the docking station to another location. My issue is that I only have an outlet at my current point. Dead reckoning for a known position (like the docking station) in this fashion would be beneficial.

My Luba2 does this exact thing. It allows me to charge it in the shade, out of the sun and weather, under a deck. When a job starts and it has no GPS fix, it moves 3 feet forward off the dock to get a fix, then starts the task.

Thank you for your suggestion! Currently, the best solution to this issue is to try placing the docking station in a location with a more open view to improve GPS signal strength. For a long-term solution, we are actively exploring new fusion positioning technology, which will enhance Yarbo’s performance even in areas with weak GPS signals.

There are a lot of lessons other manufacturers have already learned. Yarbo should take note of these and stop reinventing the wheel. These are not new problems and in most cases have already been solved.

A lot of manufacturers are unwilling to share their knowledge with competitors.

Competitors don’t have to share anything. Just watch any YouTube “reviewer” or user talking about what they’re using, and you’ll get an idea of who can do what and who runs into trouble.

Electric Ranch had issues with Yarbo’s snowblower, but he just put out a video expressing success with the mower (his yard has a lot of rough spots, some slopes, varied grass, etc, so a small/light mower probably won’t be the best for him). He said he’s working with Yarbo on improvements to the snowblower. I just tell Yarbo to go get an Ariens Compact 24 and “do that.”

The snow blower is very mature and getting better every year for sure. But his driveway needs a plow, not a snow blower. Very challenging terrain for any snow blower, especially an autonomous one.

Yep, you need the right tool for the job and use it the right way. For snow you have to treat snowblowing like voting – early and often. I used my Yarbo points to snag a plow for this coming winter. That should help when we get that garbage slush.

Folks - check your Yarbo account to see if you have some points to use for your accessories and other bits and bobs!

That Electric Ranch guy was snowblowing at the end of the season when the snow melts quickly and gets heavy and sticky. He needed content for his video and simply ran out of winter. I think he struggled with it earlier in the season as well, I forget if he took the Lawyer Grate off, and IIRC some of his problem was getting stuck – slope mode should help with that, as does the clever use of Sidewalks to pre-clean stuff so the snowblower has room to move around.

Yarbo has improved the snowblower, now with zero turn sidewalks and I’m pretty sure a slope mode, which arrived too late for me to try last season. I hope that slope mode lets me shove the snow from one end of an Area to the far end, just out and back, no squiggly little turns. But I’ll see what’s what when the snowblower goes back on.

Looking forward to what these enhancements and the plow will bring to those nighttime snow parties.
