Mapping of gps challanged areas

We know where foliage is going to cause reception issues for the Yarbo. Can we add a mapping zone so the mower knows it needs to do a limited time in the area before going back for signal?

If you get creative here with your area map and path routes, you can probably accomplish this now. Most of the time you just need to adjust the route angle so that it drives straight in and out of the zone and only loses GPS in the center. It’s the turning in a dead zone that makes the GPS pauses more a reality. The longer it spends in a dead zone doing maneuvers, the quicker it’s going to run out of DR precision and buffer. The other thing you can do is tweak the turning to be zero or U turns to speed up the turns and help get back to good GPS signal quicker. Sure an automated plan for the mower to do this would be great, but if they would ever release VIO and VSLAM, the mower would be far less susceptible to losing GPS and having issues.

I am using dead ends for the worst areas. So far 16, it gets to be a lot of manual programing. Automating it would just make for a better user experience. As paths are not available for cutting plan that is not really a feasible option. I have another suggestion for adding a sidewalk type function from the snow blower to mowing that would allow that to be easier.

There has been previous asks for mapping an area and having it automatically do that area as dead ends. That would be ideal and could possibly work for you if that is working well for you now. They already have this with “slope mode” on the snow blower.

That does sound practical, or directional fixed lines.. I’m still coming out of bad gps antena problems probably looking for solutions to problems that may be fixed.

Thanks for sharing your suggestion. At the moment, this isn’t something we’re planning to implement, but I’ll continue to follow up on the community’s interest in this feature.

What happened to run time / distance after signal loss. I move the mower to the open to cut along my house and as soon as it gets near the house it stops and says waiting for GPS.

Have you disabled or adjusted your PPVS settings?

As Bryan has replied, you can check your PPVS settings to see if it is related. Feel free to keep us updated if you still can’t find the root cause of it. We’re here to help!

Is there some explanation of PPVS? I hate changing things without some understanding, and I have no clue what that is.

You can take a look at this:

I see that’s where they moved the settings for run after signal loss. Mine was still on 32ft, the mower stopped as soon as it got back to the border after moving it away from the house to restore gps signal . Around 10 feet

There’s boundary and in area. Was the boundary at 32FT?
