Maps should be auto saved when the positioning service is changed.

  1. The current maps should be auto saved to previous maps as a pre-step to changing the positioning service. I just lost everything since I didn’t realize changing the positioning service erases maps (and the latest was saved 4 months ago)… and didn’t realize it’s only free for 3 months, so I wouldn’t want it anyway. At least it’s summertime now, so it isn’t cold out when I remake the maps.
  2. Previous maps should save about once a month if any areas have changed. I don’t think people care about maps that are older than a year.
  3. Why is only the area saved with the previous maps? The rest of the settings are so little data it wouldn’t take much to save them. Note: changing settings shouldn’t cause a new previous maps to be saved unless something else happens.
  4. The previous maps should be sorted so the most recent is on top… or it should scroll to the bottom and select the latest. Users care more about most recent, not oldest.
  5. It takes way too long to load previous maps.
  6. There’s no way to cancel out of loading the previous map, even if the preview shows it isn’t the one you want.

I wouldn’t want this auto save because it may specifically overwrite the cloud map that I want it to retain. Right now if you save a map locally, it auto uploads that saved map to the cloud. Switching also won’t wipe the maps unless you hit relocate yard. I’m fairly sure there is a pop up warning too when you click that? Did you hit that and was there a warning or did something else happen? Genuinely curious because you aren’t alone, numerous people have done this.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to share such detailed feedback — really appreciate it.

I’ll continue to keep an eye on how other users feel about this as well. If more people express the same concerns, I’ll make sure to pass it along to our product team.
