There is a setting for ‘Length Unit’ which let’s you select feet or meters. Why is there not an option for temperature? There are a lot of discussions about battery temperature and in most cases users refer to air temperature in Fahrenheit but battery temp in Celsius. Battery temp should be displayed with reference to the users region.
Here is the easiest method that I have found to covert C to F in your head. It doesnt work going from F to C; that is a different formula.
Double the C value, subtract 10% of the doubled value, add 32.
Ex. 47 C = 116.6 F
47 x 2 = 94
94 x 10% = 9.4
94 - 9.4 = 84.6
84.6 + 32 = 116.6 F
I like your idea of a setting better.
Siri works great for that. No math involved. Lazy, just like I like it.
I would like this, but the diagnostic screen is more for use when interacting with support. Having it consistent for them I think is why it doesn’t follow the user preferences for imperial and metric. A wrong conversion or worse, not converting, if it was based on a user preference then this could send support in the wrong direction on the troubleshooting tree.
Just my two cents anyways on why it may not be accepted and why it is the way it is.
I did have the same thought and you’re probably right. It just triggers my OCD when things aren’t consistent. The other option would be to have support based in the region you’re calling from.
Also almost all the core sensors in embedded hardware report using metric related results. For diagnostics it’s more useful to see directly what’s being reported there vs introduce your own software math… especially for some of the error results that some sensors return.
They actually added this to their roadmap; I didn’t expect that.
