Can anyone tell me if there is a way to mow in leaves with the Yarbo? Whenever I try, it simply pushes the leaves ahead of it creating an obstacle that it will not navigate around. I’m afraid to turn down, or off, the obstacle avoidance because we have utility risers in our yard that it cannot run into. Do I need to put it away and go to my riding mower to chop the leaves up?
In this case if you can’t run it in gentle contact, yes you might want to cut up the leaves with a bigger mower first.
Thank you very much for your help! I think it would be best to chop up the leaves with my rider for now.
I have my Yarbo in gentle contact mode. It will ram trees and drive under vehicles. The other day it pushed around a large metal sheep panel quite an impressive distance. But sometimes it will get stymied literally by 4 leaves piled up, driving a good 5+ metres out of the way to avoid them.
@mpierce57 have you tried raising the mowing height to 4" (whatever is the maximum height) giving more room for the leaves to slip under the front edge of the mower and get chopped up? If so, go with your riding mower.
Removing the front finger casting helps a lot.
Hi there, thanks for sharing your experience.
Regarding the issue of Yarbo running into trees, this may be related to a limitation we’ve identified in the current Gentle Contact logic. When Yarbo detects an obstacle, it slows down to 0.1 m/s. However, as it gets closer, the obstacle may enter the camera’s blind spot, causing Yarbo to resume its normal speed too soon and potentially collide with it. We’ve identified this behavior and plan to address it in an upcoming update.
As for the other two issues you mentioned, our support team would need to investigate further to determine the root causes.

That’s good to know about the trees. It’s almost comical watching it drive carefully up to a tree, stop, and then full-speed ram it.
Yep. Gets about 2" away and then slams it! Been reported multiple times. No change.
How does a tree a few inches away go into a cameras blind spot?
They are crafty little buggers, that’s for sure.
They jump in front of cars all the time, and are constantly swatting hobby drones out of the sky.
