With vision I have to continually help Yarbo get out out of an area. It is odd, it made it there, why can’t it take the same path out? I feel like this is much worse than before. It could be because my bumper does not work and I have to rely on vision, which oddly will avoid low branches and tall grass yet plow directly into a tree trunk. [face palm]
Obstacle avoidance can sometimes send it on some adventures.
That is a good idea though, when it gets stuck it should attempt to retrace its path in reverse for say 10 seconds before it requires intervention. Wouldn’t work with a trailer, but anything else…
lol adventures indeed. I watched it circle a pine tree in 2 directions to attempt to mow about 2 feet it seemingly could not get to. It was about 1/2 hour adventure around a 8ft diameter pine multiple times. It then gave up. Getting it to “mow” this so that it could move on proved to be a challenge. A little tenacity and driving into what it deemed blocking then restarting multiple times finally resulted in this path completed. Eventually I will fix this via some mapping, currently have to do this about every 3rd mow.
Really hope they fix this
I having the same issue. I am wondering what would happen if I turned off obstical avoidance radar? Risky. But the idea for us is that it cuts while we are away. I can’t always be there to help it out.
Honestly I use the cameras and control it out remotely. I do this ALL the time, often when I am at work. Being able to see via the cameras makes it easy to navigate it, especially when you know your yard.
I don’t necessarily believe obstacle avoidance radar is needed. This is especially true if you setup no go zones and don’t have many things changing in your yard (and your bumper works). If you move things in your yard like a trailer or a towable backhoe (experience) then it likely good to have on. It could save it from decapitating the antennas.
If there is concern I get it and leave it on. I do for my neighbors yard that I mow. He has lots of trees with low branches. Good thing this is area configurable. Normally I did well with no vision, obstacle avoidance off, and gentle contact. I do have most things with no go zones. Unfortunately my bumper broke so I pretty much have all this on to avoid plowing into things…trade off is now it gets stuck in places…sometimes I think it avoids shadows…
Basically i have observed that Yarbo is not fully aware about it’s own dimensions… or maybe the route calculaton is not aware of that.
I have a ngz less than meter away from otside perimeter. Basically ane and a half mowing width between ngz and area border. Basically yarbo should just drive there through twice and that’s it.
Outside the perimeter is concrete wall and ngz is some low elevated structure.
The mow route is calculated that Yarbo must turn around between ngz and area border. Itliterally can’t fit there sideways. And Yarbo tries and of course gets stuck.
Ok, i was able to map the ngz out of the area and just draw 2 deadends to cover that passage, but what if there are 2 ngz’s inside an area? Can’t map them as single ngz and put deadend between them, as yarbo won’t mow in ngz.
You can map a dead end in a NGZ but it has to start outside of one. It will enter one this way.
