I am writing to report a significant safety issue regarding Yarbo’s pet and person detection. While the detection system works from the side and front, there is a dangerous gap in coverage from the rear.
-
Rear Detection Gap: Currently, Yarbo does not stop when my golden retriever (or a human) approaches from behind. This creates a high-risk scenario: because dogs run fast, by the time he moves from the rear into the side camera’s view, the system latency is too high to stop the auger before he reaches it.
-
My dog is not afraid of the robot and attempts to smell the auger. This is especially terrifying when the auger grid is removed.
-
Requested Fix: Please enable the rear camera as a safety trigger. The auger should shut down the moment an object is detected approaching from the back to prevent “run-by” accidents.
-
Detection “Fatigue” Bug: I’ve also noticed that if the “person detection” is triggered repeatedly, the system eventually stops responding to triggers entirely. The safety features remain inactive until I dock the unit or perform a full reboot.
Until these issues are addressed, I cannot trust the unit to operate autonomously around my pets.
