The snow today was the perfect storm. 4+ inches but wet bottom and heavy. So Trying to plow was tough. But I did encounter a new issue with the plow that I hadn’t before. This “Plow Beard” would be snow building under the blade, which really started to hamper work plans. The issue being that yarbo couldn’t put the blade in the position it expected and it would often catch causing yarbo to slip and not make progress… it would do the whole “raise blade, scooch forward, lower blade, get stuck, repeat” making for a tough time of things… It’s not easy to “shave” this beard since it becomes hard ice.
Not sure if theres really any fix for this, but just wanted to share as I never had plow issues aside from trying to plow too deep of snow, which today was that paired with wet heavy snow that the blower wouldn’t have handled well either.

Unfortunately, this was also my first experience with the plow last year. It is shoving that wet snow underneath and forcing it into the snowblower and forming that wedge. I had to bring it in and let it thaw. It was mostly the unstuck algorithm causing this because it would track slip, back up, raise the head, drive forward and then lower the head compressing snow. Then as it moves forward it would shove this into the box and form that wedge or “snow beard” over time. I reported all of this to Yarbo and I’m hopeful that it will eventually be figured out. My solution is that if it detects it’s stuck, it should slowly and slightly raise the head while still moving forward and drop it immediately to set height once it detects forward movement. The alternative would be a backup and running start to get over the “hump” and then execute the other maneuver if unsuccessful. If I need to plow, I just use the S1 and don’t bother with the plow blade. With Turbo auger, medium travel speed, maximum overlap, and zero on the auger height, I’ve had lots of success with using the snow blower in snow blower mode to clear thin layers of wet slushy snow.

That’s interesting. Is it a design flaw of the plow blade?
Never had that happen to me when I plowed using the auger (no plow installed).

I think so. Need something to block that off and fill the void.

Spray some silicone on the underside, it helped for a little while here. Unfortunately it does wear off though…they should see if UHMW would work better on the undersides. I just got some sheets to attempt lining the chute in preparation for spring slush blowing.
