Point to point mapping/boundary creation

Instead of having to drive the mower around the entire perimeter carefully and as straight as possible, a faster, simpler method might be to at a minimum drive the mower to each corner of the boundary to mark a point. Then have the mapping tool connect the dots so to speak, to create straight lines. To make it even quicker and easier, allow for the core to be set in a sled, wagon, or perhaps back of a UTV, and then just drive or pull the core around the perimeter (point to point would also be helpful here)… This should make it faster, and the output would be straighter lines, which I desire;)

Hello and welcome to the forum.

People occasionally recommend variations of your suggestions. Basically, make it easier to accomplish the initial mapping.

I 100% agree that it takes a decent amount of time to get through the mapping. Especially on a large property. BUT I think it’s necessary. To me, it boils down to “garbage in, garbage out”. The end result of the mapping is only going to be as good as the quality of the input data.

i think it’s best to take your time with the mapping, be precise about where Yarbo can go, and where it cannot go. Only by having it drive the perimeter during mapping can you see visually where it will be going. You can confirm that it’s not going to bump into anything. The antennas won’t get damaged by those tree branches. Etc. I really don’t think cutting corners in mapping is a good idea. It will lead to problems further down the line.

Thanks for sharing your suggestion.

Point-to-point mapping could potentially be an alternative approach for creating maps, and we have previously shared similar feedback with our product team. However, after evaluation, this feature was not included in the priority development list at that time.

I’ll continue monitoring the community’s interest in this feature. If more users feel this would be valuable, I’ll share the feedback with our product team again for further consideration.

I agree, this would be an easier function than driving the perimeter. One of the driving challenges is the steering response isn’t quick… by the time you try to correct course, it’s already too late. There has to be a better way. I redraw and it’s still not right

Yep. I have lots of straight, wide open borders at properly lines that could be mapped this way. Using the manual map edit feature I can sometimes clean these up, but still a waste of time to drive them in the first place.
