Perimeter Home
The yarbo does such an amazing job with it’s straight lines. It’s a shame that it messes them up on the way back to charger or on the way to another section. I have 5 sections in rotation and it always takes the straight line path across it’s nice pattern. If it had an option to follow perimeter to charger and to zones then it wouldn’t mess up the path it makes.
Perimeter Edit
At one of my properties that has a smaller lawn I have a Segway mower. It’s little but the software is well refined after so many updates. One of the great features is in the map edit process when editing the perimeter. When editing the perimeter of the zone you only control backward and forward until you get to the spot where you want to edit the mower automatically follows the perimeter. Once you’re ready to edit you press edit and then you can redraw the line from that point. Makes it very easy for my brain to figure out.
Also when the mower is actually filling the perimeter, it actually shows in the app more like a paint brush and you see it painting and filling in the zone. It’s just a visual reference that shows you how much it’s done and what’s left without having to decipher the light gray/dark gray lines which make more sense to the robot than a person.
So yeah after having the device for a few weeks now that’s the suggestions that were at the top of my list. TY!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback and suggestions!
Regarding your first point about the mower returning to the docking station or moving between zones—we completely understand your concern about the straight-line path affecting the clean mowing pattern. This is actually a feature request we’ve heard from other users as well, and we’ve already shared it with our product team for further evaluation.
As for your second suggestion about perimeter editing, we really appreciate the detailed description. Your idea of guiding the mower along the perimeter with simple forward/backward controls before redrawing the boundary is very intuitive. Our team is currently working on improvements to the map editing experience, and your suggestion closely aligns with some of the concepts they’re exploring.
Lastly, your point about the mowing progress visualization is very well taken. We agree that a more intuitive visual—like a paintbrush effect—would make it easier to understand what has been completed and what remains. I’ve passed this on to our product department for consideration as well.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience. Feedback like yours is incredibly valuable in helping us improve!
If not too late or already in the backlog, have them add an “undo” control when mapping / editing that will have the core trace the edit we’re making, backwards, and erase it as it does so.
My phrasing of that is horrible, so I apologize. As we trace out a line, add a control that will instruct the core to follow what we’ve drawn, in reverse, and erase that line as it does so. Basically a real-time “Undo”.
“Snap to perimeter”, as Jilly was describing, is also an awesome idea. It is sometimes extremely difficult to intersect the perimeter for editing when against a wall or fence.
Thanks so much for your input! The idea of an “undo” control during mapping/editing is a great suggestion—and actually something we’re currently exploring. Being able to reverse and erase the drawn path in real-time would definitely improve the user experience.
Really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts!
