Protective disc for cutting disc

Other automowers have a metal disc below the cutting disc that protects the plastic cutting disc from being broken (in most cases) when in use. This would be a VERY helpful addition to the current mower so that the plastic discs don’t potentially get broken over uneven ground, instances where it potentially hits a stick/object/etc… in the yard.
The metal disc on other mowers has holes in it where the blades attach so that you can replace the blades without having to remove the metal covering disc. Simple solution that’s incredibly useful.

I have asked about these in the past mainly to help with keeping the blades from getting jammed with grass. I did get some feedback from the Yarbo team that they did so some testing with covers and it didn’t seem to provide much benefit.

A long time ago, I made a cutting disk cover for my LUBA using an old take out container lid. I thought it did help but the lid was very brittle and soon broke up into pieces. It still was an effective proof of concept.

I now have a 3D printer and am contemplating printing printing a cutting disk cover for Yarbo.

Thanks for your suggestion! After discussing with our relevant team, we want to let you know that we’ve actually done some research on this kind of design before. However, the technology might involve some patent-related issues, so we need to carefully consider it before we develop it further.

That being said, we truly appreciate your wonderful suggestion to improve our products, and we’ll keep exploring ways to enhance the user experience!

I had a Husqvarna that had the protective disc and I ran it for several years with it working as designed. Kept the cutting disc, blades, blade mounting points, etc… from ever getting broken.

Funny, I’ve gone the other direction. I kept getting cutter jammed faults, having to clean the blades and disk almost for every job (large pasture). So I removed the metal guards on both sides…and that helped a lot. I still have jammed rotors…but only once in a while now.
I would love to have some real mower blades in there though…for a large pasture the razor blades are overkill. I don’t need a golf course…I just want a nice pasture!

Yeah, Yarbo support told me to remove those guards as well. I’m keeping the email from them in case they ever try to say something isn’t covered under warranty because those are removed.

You are correct. I missed in the forum where several people have cited it’s approved by Yarbo to remove them.
