Quiet or better sounding drive motors

Can I ask how long it will be for the motor noise from driving the tracks is likely to be worked on, we’re considering one however the person I had in mind for one of these is put off by the noise. it’s not just the volume but the pitch.

Have they heard Yarbo in person, or just via videos? Cause I think in videos, the sound is over emphasized.

And to answer your question, supposedly the current generation of Yarbo ‘is what it is’. They said they’re not changing the drivetrain.

The brand new ones are quieter than the original ones from last year. Like @rgloverii mentioned, they sound a lot louder on video. I run mine on the slowest speed and I cannot hear it in the house at all. It’s very quiet outside too. It’s noticeable when standing next to it, but I think it’s only like 60db round about.

Likely they won’t be changing the current model again. Perhaps if and when newer models are released they may be quieter. Only time will tell.

Hi there! We currently don’t have plans to make changes to this aspect in the current generation of the product. I have a neighbor that said it sounds like a car being run over by a law mower:sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile::joy::joy::joy:. Some sort of gear re-design/upgrade would be nice, (i.e. helical cut vs straight cut gears). Something else I notice was when the tracks get packed with snow the noise is really deadend, so maybe some sort of sound absorbing foam inserts around that area? (Maybe Yarbo can be amphibious then? Lol I kid, I kid:joy:)

I personally would rather the dev team work on other areas. I think the reason for the unique sound is because of the significant amount of torque these have (which I am very thankful for). My wife originally thought it was pretty loud, but once she got about 100 feet from it the sound is minimal. I am running mine at night without any concern.

My wife complains more about the lights at night shining in the window than the noise. She doesn’t like the “Ready to Charge” at night either as the charging station is under the master bath window. Yes I could mute Yarbo, but then my wife would find something else to complain about. :wink:

I’m still trying to find the mute button for mine. Thank goodness Yarbo’s mute button works. :rofl:

@Yarbo-Forum Speaking of drive trains,

I’ve got a ticket open for an S1 issue, and had to put that on hold because one of my tracks froze up.

I’m thawing out the core as I type this. With the track removed from the side that froze, I’m getting a full quarter turn of free-spin from the wheel before the gears engage. The other drive wheel is nowhere near that amount.

Can you do your magic and find out (a) what the expected free-spin / gear lash is between the drive wheels and the gear train? I don’t recall it being that much (a full quarter turn). And (b), is there a quick vid for how to tighten that up that lash? That’s probably a normal maintenance thing that we’ll have to do every season.

Thank you!

@steve I’ve checked with our R&D team, and it appears that the issue may be related to wear on the drive wheel flange. To help us confirm this, could you please submit a support ticket for this specific problem and attach a few relevant videos? This will allow our technicians to assess the situation more accurately and guide you through the proper solution.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation!
