Returning my new Mower pro

Good evening I’m aj new to the community, if someone out there that could help me it would greatly appreciated. I received my mower pro last Wednesday. I was excited and quite hesitant to try it that day did not feel like dealing with the possible crap and disappointment….I have the snowblower, ( I’ll save that for another post). Long story short, I made my map and true to form the stress started. With no obstacles in its way it would stop as if it hit a brick wall. I tried several times and it would stop in the same spot every time, but there was no obstacle in its path/way.I read some post here and found out imaginary obstacles is a thing. The poster suggested no go zones, or no vision zones. I tried no vision and it worked. True to Yarbo form now when it hit or tap a tree or a true obstacle it back up, back up 10 to 15 feet then stops, it makes no attempts to maneuver around a true or fake obstacle, and this is were I need your help, how do I get Yarbo stop backing up 10 to 15 feet then just stop the plan. No attempts to maneuver around. I did call support and a ticket was made. If this issue is not resolved in a couple of days I’ll be the first to return the mower pro. I have the snowblower that give me lots of issues. I’m not going to be stuck with two.

It would be helpful if you could post screenshots of your map, where it was stopping (preferably when it’s stopping) and maybe some photos of the area. Typically most people have had the best experience by making no go zones around anything you aren’t comfortable with Yarbo running into and going around. No vision is for turning the cameras off within that zone. This should switch to gentle contact mode, but maybe there is a bug that is causing it to stop. Is there any sort of error when this happens in the app or while it’s happening?

My recommendation would be to switch the area setting to gentle contact after you map no go zones around those things that can’t be bumped with the bumper or won’t make contact with the bumper. Gentle contact mode is bumper only. It only uses the cameras to slow down before it runs into something. At that point, when the bumper activates, it will navigate around the object and continue on.

Another thing to check if you don’t want to use gentle contact mode would be to go into settings, Smart Vision and see if all your cameras are working properly. If not, go into settings, safety settings, and restart the Yarbo and see if they recover. Cameras not working is typically from hot swapping the modules and easily fixed by the reboot. That can have an impact on vision based obstacle avoidance like moderate bypass (which is the default).

If the Yarbo is stopping in pathways, then it could be detecting a vehicle or some other obstacle. You can adjust the pathway settings to turn obstacle avoidance for the pathway off. No vision zones can also help with this.

Hope that points you to some things that resonate and are helpful.

Thanks so much Mr Wheeler for getting back to me. I will try to post a screenshot of my map and a picture of the area where Yarbo stops. I did try all three obstacles avoidance setting even with the gentle setting it will touch lightly then backup 10-15 feet. No attempts to maneuver around. I will try to make sure the cameras are calibrated, and I will also try the restart. Not really sure how to post the screenshot and picture but I’ll figure it out. I’ll update you .

There are 6 trees in a row it always stops at the first tree.

Hi there—welcome to the community! I’m sorry for the inconvenience and I know how frustrating this can be. I’ve reviewed your support ticket and have already reached out to the field service engineer assigned to your case so we can get this resolved as quickly as possible. They’ll be in touch soon. Thanks for your patience.

Is the trees inside the blue no vision zone? When it happens in the app is there a bunch of red splotches boxing the rover in? Those are detected obstacles. If it gets blocked in from false detections it will stop. If you watch in the bottom left corner of the app it will flash status messages about what it’s doing. Some screenshots of the app, screen recording, or videos would be extremely helpful to figure out what might be going on.

Good morning I just put out a picture of the area where Yarbo stops, it the blue dot on the map. Hopefully the picture came through. It’s a row of six trees and it stops at the first tree in the row. No red splotches noted or made in the app or map. The first time it happened a message did come up but it disappeared so quickly that I didn’t get a chance to read it. I will be sending Yarbo out in about 4hr I will pay close attention and make a screenshot of the app

Yes it would definitely be helpful to see the app when it’s stopped. One thing I would recommend is you could overlay a templated NGZ (or several as needed) over the no vision zone (or just map it like you did the No Vision Zone). Those branches are pretty low so you probably want to avoid getting too close to them with the antennas.

One other thing to check is make sure you pulled the plastic protection film off the front cameras. It’s not very apparent it’s on there and some people miss it. Also make sure all the cameras are clean and clear. The unit looks brand new, so that’s probably not an issue, but something to be aware of.

Good evening, so sorry I’m unable to download a short video, not sure why but I’ll try again tomorrow. So this evening I decided to try to map the other side of my lawn which is separated by the driveway. This part of the lawn is way more difficult and complicated, it has a pond denser trees, decorative trees, sitting area, stumps you name it, it on that side….yarbo did well, it performed as it should. Yarbo tapped several tree and when it did so, it backed up and positioned itself a notification showed up a read yarbo is using its obstacles avoidance and it maneuvered around the tree. Why it works on the most complicated lawn I don’t know. So I had Yarbo go back over to the other lawn with the row of trees and Yarbo performed poorly tapped a tree kept backing up about 10ft then stopped no attempt to maneuver around. Tomorrow I’m going to delete this map and start all over again and see what happens. No response from support as of yet I’ll keep you updated, thanks for all suggestions I did take the mower off the module and did a restart, as per your suggestion ,put the mower back on a did another restart and that’s when I mapped out the complicated lawn, again thanks so much and if you or anyone else has any more suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you know the times that happened you can post that here and in your ticket (also post your ticket number here) and the forum moderator can have support pull the logs to see what might be going on. Let us know how the remapping goes. Hopefully that solves the issue. If not, try mapping a no go zone around those trees and see if it goes around them then.

Mr. Wheeler where/how did you learn so much about Yarbo

I have been following the product and company since May 2024. I read a lot of the social media groups, forum, wiki, support site, etc. I am also a beta tester (PPP) for them. I spend a lot of time watching the diagnostics screen and the app. As a result, I have done my fair share of troubleshooting and working with support/FSE’s during the beta tests. But, I mostly glean a lot from users problems, work arounds, creative uses, and fixes they’ve stumbled across or support has shared with them. I try and pass that along in hopes that it helps someone get a resolution quicker.

If there is nothing there and this repeats in the same spot then create a “no-vision” zone there. At least until the software updates fixes the sensitivity issues causing this. Hope this helps :sun_with_face:
