Snow blower testing obstacle avoidance

Hi,

I tried to test my snow blower today after I red it can avoid cars, pet and human. Any suggestions why my Yarbo is not doing this. See attached pictures and video. First, I tried to shout the augur from running but want to see if follow the map with the augur off, but it did bot. There was no option. Second it say vehicle blocking yarbo path and it went to recharging. I tried several times. it went and hit the truck. then I removed the SUV and Truck completely to be able to do the test. I added a video, but not sure if it will show it.

It is still in beta, I wouldn’t rely on it for constant use, but more for those oops moments. I’m going to guess the black color and solid wall in the vision appeared like a driveway. Submit a ticket and note the time and date of the test so they can pull the logs and hopefully train it. If you can reproduce the issue, go into the diagnostics screen, scroll to the bottom and enable record issue before and turn it off after. Let them know you did that in the ticket.

Hi there, I’m really sorry to hear about the issue. Could you please submit a support ticket so our support team can investigate this further? It would be greatly appreciated if you could attach the photos and videos, along with the estimated timestamps of when the issue occurred, in your support ticket.

As Bryan mentioned, the vehicle-detection feature is still in the beta stage, so there is still room for improvement. We will look into your case and continue refining the feature over time.

For now, if you have a designated parking area, we recommend setting a no-go zone and enabling it when needed.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Hi Bryan and Yarbo team,

Thank you for your prompt response. I did move the SUV and the Truck and was able to perform the test. I only tested half of the driveway and felt confident enough that Yarbo can continue to complete the mock test, so I stopped it. I will wait for the Final release. Now I know it is not ready yet, but can move my cars out of the way.

Thanks

It did pretty good with the wife’s Pacifica, even mapped the side view mirror. Then it tried to go around the back and bumped the bumper…it also tried to circle around and stay on the main route so many times it took a long time to complete, no-go zone is much faster.

Yes, yes it is. NGZ’s for the win. Obstacle avoidance for the oopsies.

Because I do not have a consistent spot/parking for the car. Sometimes few feet + and - so I do not think the NGZ would help. so I will remove the cars for now.

My solution to the “cars parked in the driveway” problem is to train my kids to ONLY park their cars in pre-designated locations that I have excluded from the main snow blowing zones in Yarbo. I then created a separate small zone for the parking spaces so Yarbo can also clear that area when the kids aren’t at home.

Exactly I have about 1/2 of the main driveway marked off and the last time we went to church I quick ran the whole plan without the no-go zone on😁. I have some sidewalks drawn to do “closer around the car” and if it detects The car there it should abort and the. I can make fun of my wife’s poor park job…but then she’ll probably send me outside to clean the snow😅, this last time I ran it manually

Wonderful. Thanks Steve. I will try that in Thanksgiving week hopefully.

So I tried the beta version of the obstacle avoidance on the driveway trying to avoid two cars and Yarbo passed the test.

Awesome! I definitely wouldn’t rely on it to always avoid obstacles. Rather I would have it for the accidental incidents where someone parks in the wrong spot or a visitor who doesn’t know shows up.

I agree. This was a trial but when we have snow, the cars will be moved out of the way

Hi

I was trying to prepare the snowblower for tomorrow Snow storm. Yarbo would not move when I requested to recharge or execute the plan. It would sit still and the Augur turning. Some time the unit would turn 90 or 180 degrees but would not move. I shut it off and turned it on again but nothing happened. I disconnected the battery and connected again but nothing happens. Please see attached pictures. Thanks

@emad1996 Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Could you please submit a support ticket for this issue? It would also be very helpful if you could include a screenshot of your app and the approximate time when the problem occurred, so our team can take a closer look and better understand the situation.

Thanks in advance, and we’ll do our best to assist!

Thank you for your fast response. I have submitted a support ticket ## 135713 ##. Based on their suggestion, I will check the WIFI, HaLow and Bluetooth connection tonight again. This incident happened last night around 7-8 pm trying to get it to work.

@emad1996 Thanks for your cooperation. I’ve checked your ticket in our system, and your case has been escalated to our field service engineer team for further investigation. We truly appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this for you.

@Yarbo-Forum Thank you for following up on this. I tried the snow blower again last night in middle of the storm. Yarbo would not move. It would rotate 90 or 180 degrees but would not go to recharge or execute the plan. I did receive an email from the field engineer saying it is the location of the docking station which causes Yarbo to loss the signal. I’m surprised to know that it is caused by the docking station placement because I never had a problem with it before. I used the docking station during the summer for the mower and tried it multiple times for the snow blower before we had the storm. Anyway, I’m going to relocate the docking station again according to your instructions and see.

Thank you
