I feel like there is something wonky that is going on if you end a work plan with a sidewalk. It’s like it completes 50% of the final sidewalk (does the initial pass) and the ends the plan (instead of reversing or zero turning to return to the starting point) to go dock and forgets where it is and drives straight at it.
This caused it to stray outside the sidewalk and hit the house.
I posted a while back mine showed the same behavior but chose to take a straight line to the dock and hit the house.
What did Yarbo say about your situation? I remember that post, but don’t recall what the resolution was.
This is the 1st time I have personally seen this happen, and am really surprised and disappointed that the no go zone was not honored either.
I hope they are able to resolve these software glitches soon. What if Yarbo had decided instead to drive into the street? Or into my neighbor’s yard? Or into the pond behind my house??
I use a sidewalk to clean my sidewalk and it has cost me over a dozen shear pins as it randomly does odd crap and rams concrete steps. I have a robotic snowblower but here I am shoveling the sidewalk.
I’d read about others (including you) having odd problems with sidewalks, but hadn’t experienced the problems myself. I thought I was lucky. Well, guess the luck ran out.
Since the issue seems to be sporadic, there’s no way I can adjust things and have confidence it will never happen again. I’m heading for Vegas in a couple of days. Unfortunately I won’t be able to rely on Yarbo to keep my sidewalk clear while I’m gone.
I’m assuming your sidewalk is outside of a work area?
Quick question to anyone:
If you have a sidewalk that completes your plan does it end the plan at the end of the downward pass vs coming back to the starting point and then indicating the work plan has been completed?
Hmm. I think the correct answer is both yes and no.
One end of the sidewalk starts within a driveway work area, and the length of the sidewalk is not deliberately inside any other work areas. It butts up against the lawn mowing area that Yarbo decided to use as a shortcut. So maybe there is some unintentional overlap.
Yeah if you have a sidewalk within ~3-5 feet of an area it will jump between the 2. I had one sidewalk that it insisted on using as a pathway in the wrong direction as a shortcut to get to the driveway. I ended up deleting it and making it shorter and shorter…took ~ 4 tries to get it reliable…it also didn’t always do it🫠
Oh and it also ignored the no-go zone blocking off access😅
Yeah don’t end a plan with a sidewalk, it gets to the “end” and shuts off the blower with snow still in it and then will do whatever it wants, seemingly randomly, to get back to the dock. I’ve been putting little sidewalks in the middle of a known cleared location so it can “be random” safely😅
That’s exactly how mine was that cause it to cut into the yard as well. Before the house tap. So I just deleted the yard/grass portion. Because mine tried to approach the dock from the rear once it entered the yard and almost got the cord.
The white is the side walk I mapped. (I have the SAM on now so I can’t see it). Imagine a grass work area for B1 right next to it. After the completion of the sidewalk instead of returning to the starting point of the sidewalk it (red dashed) to a route breaking the sidewalk programming ignoring the return to starting point of the sidewalk and instead followed a superceding “Work Plan Completed” programming to the DS. Stopped it at the teal dot. So while technically inbounds it definitely isn’t a wanted actions like yours.
This drawing is a bit inaccurate as the sidewalk is actually 2. The one straight down towards the pathway starts in the zone. So does the one up and around. So it did the down sidewalk. Zero turned. Went back to the start then moved on the the one that goes up and around. Then said, “hold my track grease” and took off.
Something else I briefly tried in summer was to create a fast track path that skipped through intermediate areas and set the travel speed to fast to see if it would take that into account when travelling long distances(i.e. many areas away from the dock heading back to recharge or start a far away area) and it didn’t seem to account for that at all
I use sidewalks a lot, and yes, it ends the plan at the end of the last sidewalk. That usually works out, since I have the sidewalks loop around, with both end points near the base station. But often it will take another one of those long sidewalk loops as a return path to the base station, rather than driving a straight 10 feet to base station directly.
I have a sidewalk that I tested yesterday as an “end of plan” and it performed as expected. It went the correct way blowing snow and then backed out of the sidewalk as configured. It then made a plan to get back to recharge. It should be noted that this sidewalk ends where there is no overlap with any other sidewalk or area. I had two other sidewalks in the plan and they were on top of my driveway work area that was not in the plan. And Yarbo took liberties with those two sidewalks. (snow blowing in the correct direction but then it “exited” the first sidewalk wondered a bit in the driveway work area before starting the second sidewalk. Again the second sidewalk ended with a wondering Yarbo. But the third sidewalk worked as expected.
My theory if is if Yarbo has NO CHOICE but to back out of a sidewalk it will do that, but give other options its a free for all.
