I will give that a try. thanks
This message seems to have gotten off track and moved in a different direction. Nonetheless, over a month after I first experienced this problem, I am still having issues. And Yarbo is still trying to figure it out. I know I am not alone with this problem, as others have reported the same.
As an update, here is where I am. The issue occurs irregularly. I thought it was fixed because the machine worked well from Friday to Monday morning. However, it suddenly turned off again (lost all power) while cutting an area around noon on Monday. At first, I couldn’t restart it, so I unplugged the battery for four hours. When I reconnected it, I managed to get it to turn on. I sent it back to finish the job, but it only went about 30 feet before shutting off once more. I was able to restart it and moved it to the recharging dock. However, as it was aligning to recharge, it lost power again. I tried many times to restart it, but it would not stay on. I even unplugged the battery overnight. The next morning, I turned it on again, but it would not stay powered. Holding down the power button for a minute did not help. Every time I think it will stay on, I leave, and a few minutes later, it turns off. This problem has gone on for nearly a month, and I am no closer to a solution. It must be a top priority to fix. Many others have the same problem, so it is probably related to a firmware update that the latest version did not fix.
We completely understand the priority and seriousness of this issue. Our support team is actively investigating your case right now, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share so much detailed evidence and information with us.
Welp, this just happened to my ‘new’ (frozen hellhole of hoth) core. Powered off mid-job at 32% battery, will not turn on.
Installed battery in ‘bad’ (emergency-stop=2) core, it also refused to turn on.
Plugged pigtail charger into bad core, waited five minutes, hit power and it booted up. Battery reads 35% on bad core.
Drove it to the pad and let that charge it to 45%. Pulled battery, walked it to the new core and installed it. New core refused to turn on. Rain started to downpour and I stopped caring. Walked battery back to bad core and am letting it charge to 80ish%.
Once that tops off and there isn’t a monsoon outside, I guess my next step will be to install it again and try to start it. If it fails, drag the carcass home and try the pigtail trick. I hesitate to leave the battery unplugged overnight, since I have an open ticket for the temp sensor and don’t wish to be stuck in a five week reply cycle with FSE.
Wonder if a bad battery is a factor in some of your issues with the old and new core?
Dunno. Just dragged the dead core about 200 meters with the bad core, its only issue is “emergency stop = 2” if any head is installed.
So, on the new core with batt at 70%, it powers up as long as the power button is pressed. Press it for a moment, you get a couple LEDs on and then dark. Press and hold for a bit, you get as far as the blinking beacon until you let go.
Pigtail in progress.
And we’re up.
Recipe:
Pigtail for a couple minutes. Leave it in.
Press and hold power button for the entire POST, including when it moves the module up and down.
Once the amber beacon stops blinking, I was able to release the button and “Ready to work” was announced a moment later.
Remove the pigtail.
Edit:
Once booted, charge to 100% on the dock.
Pull battery for 4 hours (do not cheat!)
Plug back in, core should boot normally.
Note new charge %. Mine initially said 100% before unplug.
After the 4 hr unplug, it came back saying 70%.
Feels like a battery issue. Reports 35% when it’s actually almost dead and continues to run until it shuts down. What does HA report for battery voltage history?
I wonder if you should charge battery to 100% and then unplug battery for at least 4 hours, see of that fixes battery.
I would definitely recommend doing this, as support is going to “require” it before they condemn it as a bad battery.
Battery unplugged!
The Great Wait begins.
It’s a disabled entity in the latest Yarbo-HA update.
Done! Thank you both!
…and we’re back!
Powered up normally.
App and HA reports battery at 72% / 40V.
You guys nailed it! Sitting for two months took its toll.
Hi
It is my second summer with Yarbo. Never had an issue except the grass being destroyed (way better now!) or snapping antennas.
But now in the last few days my Yarbo does the same problem described above. It stops in the middle of a mow as if it was out of battery. If i unplug the battery and charge it for a few minutes I put it back in, everything works normally (and it never shows the battery as empty when I do that). I drove the Yarbo back to the station, charged to 100%, resumed the job and it shut down again in the middle of a field (no obstacles, nothing, still about 25% battery).
It does that repetitively. Does it look like the same problem? If yes can you explain again the procedure to reset the BMS (this is what you called it?)
This time I was able to long press and have it load for a few seconds and it showed 0% battery!!! Makes no sense as there was absolutely no low battery warning and it was directly in the middle of a row mowing (not in the direction of coming back home). It is as if it does not detect the battery being drained? For now I just took out the battery and plugged in to the wall charger (I have the adapter) and let it charge there. But any idea someone?
Hello. Sorry you are experiencing this problem.
Basically, Yarbo’s Battery Management System has lost track of the battery’s actual capacity and needs to be reset.
Step one is to charge your battery until Yarbo says it is at 100%. Then, open Yarbo’s battery cover and disconnect the battery from Yarbo.
Let Yarbo sit like that for at least four hours.
After the four hour period, reconnect the battery and power Yarbo back on. The BMS should be reset. Recheck what percent Yarbo says the battery is at. It’s likely something less than 100%.
Let Yarbo go charge as normal. It should now properly charge to full and your issue should be resolved.
Please keep us posted so we know how things turned out.
Please follow the suggested steps to reset the battery.
