Thrown track club

Popped my “thrown track” cherry:sweat_smile:, lots of ice build up on the drive wheel, and I haven’t very studious applying the grease.

Time for some track maintenance.

That does NOT look fun! Dang. Hope it isn’t too cold over there today.

Ok. So what is the perceived cause of thrown tracks and how do we proactively prevent it from happening??

Usually something foreign or enough sideways pressure to push the idler wheel over the nub. The track grease can help it from getting a grip on those nubs and climbing over it.

There was a bunch of ice frozen to the drive wheels and Yarbo tried some zero turn dance escape maneuvers…plus I’m behind on greasing:sweat_smile:

Not too bad with the Milwaukee ratchet:sweat_smile:

wow, that’s some wear! Definitely behind on greasing.

How many of the hub shield screws did you loose?

:eyes: none that I noticed :sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile:

I don’t seem to ever lose nuts and bolts. I always end up with extras.

Speaking generally, tracks most often come off because of improper tension, poor lubrication, or foreign objects. I’ve owned various tracked equipment over the years and the first two causes are the most common.

I owned a CAT tracked skid steer for several years. I had to check the tension on the tracks every 8 to 10 hours. The tracks stretch and shrink with wear and temperature.

Over tensioning tracks can be as problematic as under tensioning them.

While the snowblowing and mowing may be automated with Yarbo, the maintenance is not. Having said that, so far the maintenance on Yarbo is a lot less than any other piece of equipment I’ve owned.

Thanks for the response.

Based on what you are describing, I think it would be really beneficial for the Yarbo app to include a maintenance interval reminder feature based on numbers of hours in use.

Simple reminders to check track tension, grease tracks, Etc. would go a long way to ensuring Yarbo remains in good working order.

I just added this as a feature suggestion. Please give it a like if you agree.

Thanks.
