U-turn that alters pathing for continuous drive

I have seen this before, but not as an official suggestion.

It would be great if, when u-turn mode is turned on for Yarbo, it enabled an alternate way of making a path through the lawn that was a ‘skip and fill’ path. ie. the u-turn doesn’t need to be so tight, it can make a curve, which would leave a gap, then later turns would fill said gap. For example.

ie. Repeating pattern of something like:

---------> (1)
---------> (5)
<--------- (2)
<--------- (4)
<--------- (6)
---------> (3)

If the pathing was calculated this way, the u-turn would not need to be as tight (and thus would not have as big an impact on the lawn), and it should be able to turn in one continuous motion without any need to reverse at all, as the width of the turn should be sufficient. Obviously the above pattern is just an example.

Thanks for your idea! We really appreciate the suggestion and will share it with our product team for consideration.

A little like this, but explicitly so that it can make a wide u-turn? Wider lawn stripe option

Looks similar to this industrial engineer who worked out the most efficient way to mow his lawn by using “continuous turns.”

@Ken I didn’t know you were a founding member of the Dull Men’s Club!

I don’t have a problem, Mr. @bryan.wheeler! YOU have a problem!

Uhh…OK, so what, yes, it’s Grok. I tracked my mower usage in a file on a multi-billion dollar company’s servers using a multi-billion dollar company’s PC and used a multi-billion dollar A.I. to analyze the data for the sole purpose putting together a lawn mowing schedule.

And – ha ha on YOU – I didn’t go with the recommendation from the A.I.! I’m A Rebel!

“Dull” indeed. I feel so judged.

Just remember Mr. Rebel… The Empire Strikes Back! :joy:

100% this recommendation.

I don’t even see the difference between the Zero turn and U-turn in the real world use. They do the same exact thing when I’ve tried using them.
