This year I actually started using Yarbo and right away noticed that it quite often sees “ghost obstacles” and I started to wonder what’s the point of using the Vision at all.
- Anyway there ar eultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles
- If all obstacles in area are mapped as NGZs, then no need to detect other obstacles, right?
- Even if there will so something, yarbo will detect a collision and drive around the obstacle, right?
Additionally - what does the Bundary Obstacle Avoidance toggle switch do and does it uses ultrasonic sensors or vision?
So basically I tried to turn off the vision and Yarbo performed better then with Vision set to Moderate bypass.
Any other pros and cons for using or not using the Vision? Maybe the smae would be visiion set to gentle contact mode?
Yarbo’s vision is still very much a work in progress but I use it exclusively in one area of my yard where there are quite a few small obstacles and it avoids them rather well. You’d want to use vision and or ultrasonics in areas where you aren’t comfortable with Yarbo bumping into something with the bumper and then going around it. The ultrasonics help with closer objects. Both are used even in gentle contact mode to slow down for the “gentle” part of the contact (exception for the M1 as they are currently disabled). You can toggle both on or off on the Pro mower. Boundary obstacle avoidance will use either and if say a bush or something is hanging over into the path, Yarbo would detect it and go around. Disable it, and it will drive right through it. Leaving this enabled often leads to missed and avoided spots on the boundary if things are too close to the perimeter.
