What is the secret to get the Smart Assist module secured correctly?

I started setting up my Yarbo last night and spent at least an hour just trying to secure the smart assist module, but I could not get the bottom holders to click into the holes and stay clicked in no matter what I tried. The only way I was able to get them to click in correctly was to remove the cable that attaches on the inside, so I could get more wiggle room. I even tried standing the yarbo up vertically; still no luck.

I eventually gave up and started going through the rest of the setup - I noticed that the metal arms that are supposed to connect to the Smart Assist module articulate up and down when the machine is booting. Is it possible that mine need to be in a different position? I have watched the installation for 2024 version, and I do not get the satisfying click I was promised!

I’m new to the forum but let’s see if I can upload some videos I took…

This is normal for that module. Nothing to worry about.

This one gets everyone, it got me too. Do know if a note is in the Wiki?

Pretty sure it’s in @Ken’s big read me article. However I think it should be under the FAQs for the SAM. @marco is it posted anywhere else?

The SAM is held on only by the top pins, and it’ll be loose at the bottom. The Smart Assist Module (SAM) is the small module you get with the core. It clips onto the core with the top pins, and there are no latches with the bottom pins, so it’ll wiggle, and that’s OK. To remove the SAM from the latches press up on the bar at the bottom of the SAM to unhook the latches.

Yes, Ken has mentioned it in his article: Getting Started with Yarbo: FAQs, Tips, and Head-scratchers for New Users | Yarbo Wiki
And I think you are right, will post this as a separate FAQ article.

Thanks for the information, everyone. It was helpful. Glad to know that this setup video lied to me. The instruction manual had multiple inaccuracies as well. Definitely not feeling warm and fuzzy about my $5k purchase at the moment. Thanks for linking to that FAQ, I will check it out.

I think that “satisfying click” was meant for the module connector cable.

Just be thankful you weren’t dealing with the Pro Mower module and its nonexistent PHILLIPS HEAD screws
