Whatcha doin' yarbo!?!

Sent yarbo out this morning to mow, about 20 minutes into the mow I found it just sitting. No errors just sitting. It took a full restart of yarbo via the app to get it going again.

About an hour later I went to check on it because it was starting to sprinkle, and I happened to catch it driving all over the place. See the picture. The blue line is where it should have been going. The red line is where it went, you can sorta make out the lines in the grass. The app didn’t say it was avoiding an obstacle so not really sure what it was doing wandering around.

If you have a time it was doing that and hopefully screenshots of the app or diagnostics I would recommend opening a ticket and including all of that information

I noticed mine doing something similiar over the weekend. Driving drunk and not displaying a message that it was trying to avoid an obstacle, there was nothing in its way. I had set obstacle avoidance to ‘moderate bypass’ and then to ‘sensitive bypass’ after the latest update to see if anything had improved but all I noticed was it driving erratically without displaying any message. I had to set it back to ‘gentle contact’ for it to work properly which is really annoying because I would like the safety features to work as advertised.

the red line is typical of our Yarbo when it confuses shadows in its vision with obstacles.

Support really seems to be lacking telemetry as without exact time stamps of whichever misadventure is at hand they seem lost. You would think they could search the logs for events like out of work area, intrusion into no-go zones etc.

Yeah, I have mine set to gentle contact. I was trying to use the moderate bypass, but it sees too many “ghosts”. Driving along the field it sees any tall grass as an obstacle. Today it was pretty much in the middle of the yard, overcast so no shadows, just an empty yard to wander in, I guess.
I didn’t grab any app screen shots I never think about it when it’s doing odd stuff.
I’ve seen it do these exaggerated coarse deviations when it’s working around an obstacle. It seems to try once maybe twice to navigate close then just gives up and makes a massive circle around. But like I mentioned the app didn’t have any message about anything really.
It’s what I get for giving it the day off yesterday wakes up drunk.

Mine does that all the time when using Moderate Bypass. It goes around shadows, spots of longer grass, or even some slopes. I find that what works best is Gentle Touch. Make sure to NGZ everything (even trees as it will try to climb on them when going reverse). With that mix I get much better results. With Moderate Bypass it is more than looking drunk, is is driving forever around my orchard and doens’t finish the job. And destroys the grass doing so because of the frequent turns…

I have hope however. I have a Tesla with Full Self Driving. The tesla used to stop for no reasons or slam on the breaks at shadows. I haven’t seen such occurences in months now… So it is possible… What worries me is that Yarbo doesn’t have the same ressoruces as Tesla… But I suppose that navigating a yardo is not as complex as driving downtown of a large city?

I’m sorry to hear about these issues. Regarding what you’ve experienced:

1. Yarbo stopping mid-plan without any error message – Could you please submit a support ticket and include the estimated timestamp when this happened? We’ll need to investigate this further through the system logs.

2. Yarbo veering off course without obstacle notifications – Normally, when Yarbo avoids an obstacle, the app should show a notification and visually mark the obstacle. Since that didn’t happen, this behavior is also unusual and requires further investigation.

We appreciate your help in submitting a support ticket and providing the timestamps for both incidents so our team can look into it thoroughly. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!
