Yarbo having issues returning to charger after completing mowing task

what happened to me

Pathways can’t over lap? How am I to send yarbo out down a sidewalk to various areas with out anything over lapping? Summer or winter or both. I have a concrete sidewalk that needs to have 3 turn off at different places alone this sidewalk to get to areas.

Areas that are overlapping, not the pathway. Those should be fine.

The area it was mowing in, has no overlap with any other area. The pathway is straight from dock to this area, no stops. Do you see something I don’t?

Without context of what was where and when I was just working off the screenshot @cobradunn posted which could be problematic if it was traversing through any of that. If not, then the only other thing I’ve seen is transit path offset, path offset, and pathway offsets causing these “failed to calculate route” errors.

That picture is of snowblowing areas, and the one with the overlap was put in place temporary to help yarbo clean up an area better. I have had no issues with sending yarbo to do those areas over winter.

I just did get a reply from support that they are looking into this further, so that is a plus.

In the middle of this picture, it looks like you have two areas that butt each other and another area that overlaps both of the other two. Is that correct? If so, the right end of the horizontal pathway is in an overlap. That can cause problems. I had such a case. Yarbo was able to go out to work but couldn’t get back to recharge. A longer pathway solved it.

That is not the area it was mowing, that is a snowblowing area, the area it was mowing was the large area on the top of pictures.

I was thinking it still needed to use those Pathways to get home. Maybe I’m not seeing the whole picture.

No that pathway leads to driveway area to snowblow. The path to the area it was mowing is a continuous path, from dock to area, no stops, no breaks.

Keep in mind that Yarbo uses what you map. It does not know your intent. I believe that pathways starting or ending in overlaps can confuse it even if they are not needed for the current work plan. Best to have your entire map follow the guidelines. The point where your pathways intersect looks like it might be in an overlap, or maybe just not far enough beyond the overlap. It’s difficult to see exactly what you have at that point.

From the large area where yarbo was mowing, there is only one way back to the charger, it is a direct pathway, no stops.

Hi there, I’m really sorry about the initial response you received and completely understand your frustration. Your case has now been escalated to the FSE team for further investigation and log analysis.

We truly appreciate your patience while the team works through the details and reaches a proper conclusion on the root cause of the issue.

After reviewing your map, we noticed that a few of your work areas are not properly connected through pathways. This can prevent Yarbo from navigating correctly between the docking station and the work areas.

To resolve this, please connect all work areas using pathways in sequence. For example:

  • Connect the docking station to Area 1

  • Connect Area 1 to Area 2

  • Connect Area 2 to Area 3

  • And continue similarly for the remaining areas

Please find the link attached below for detailed instructions on how to create and manage pathways.

Once the areas are properly connected, this should resolve the navigation issue you are experiencing.

If you need any assistance while updating the map, please feel free to reach out.

Regards,

Adam

Above is the reply back I get after a few days of yarbo working on this.

I did not send the yarbo to another zone, nor will I ever, that is why I have a direct pathway from this zone back to the dock, and that is the only pathway I want it to take, that is why I did not connect it to any other area via a pathway.

Am I understanding this wrong? This area is a large area that takes 7 to 8 hours to mow, I only want it to do that area, then go back to charge.

Maybe for some crazy reason it is trying to calculate a path to the dock through another area. Stranger things. If that’s the case and if what they are saying is true, then it could explain the error. Otherwise, it makes no sense to me.

But I do not want it to go to any other area to get back to the dock, no other area would make sense as it would have to cross a driveway to get to another zone and that is dangerous with vehicles because we all know vision does not work, and on another driveway to my shop, it will see a vehicle in the way about 80% of the time, even though there is nothing around.

Stupid logic if it is true you have to map all your areas together to get yarbo to work, when the owner does not want that. Is this the AI part marketing speaks of? LOL.

I wonder if they are looking at my backyard areas that have no path. But they asked me exactly what area it was mowing in. They wanted to know the exact name of the area and I gave them that info.

I have two areas in my backyard that do not have a pathway connected to them as there is a gate in the way and I do not want it to go in or out of that area unless I drive it manually, which is just about never as I have a Lymow doing that area.

Maybe got confused with what area you are trying to mow or just latching onto those not being right and chalking it up to user error or something.
