Yarbo leaves a packed snow in front of charging pad

I set it to clean the charging pad twice, but it seems to skip a few inches of snow right in front of the charging pad. This is usually not a big deal, but after rolling over the snow, it packs the snow and creates a small bump. This small bump seems to interfere with the auger height and sometimes prevents charging. What’s more, as the bump turns into ice, it causes Rover to slip when backing into the charging pad. I can see Rover continuously adjusting its position, but it keeps failing because of slippage on one side of the track.

The sequence for entering the charging pad is as follows:

  1. Get to a position 1 meter in front of the charging pad.
  2. Turn right by 45 degrees, blow the snow on the right side, raise the auger, then drive back to 1 meter in front of the pad. This is similar to every zero turn.
  3. Blow the right half of the snow on the charging pad.
  4. Blow the left half of the snow on the charging pad
  5. Turn off auger, drive back to 1 meter in front of the pad, then back onto the charging pad.

Somehow, between steps 2 and 3, it skips a few inches of snow. I think it would be helpful to adjust the distance to make sure it cleans all the snow in front of pad.

Hi there, thanks for bringing this to our attention and for providing such a detailed description of the behavior you’re seeing. I’ll make sure to share your feedback with our team so they can review it and look into possible improvements. We really appreciate you taking the time to explain this so clearly.

Yeah, there are a couple things about the dock clearing that I think we could use some adjustment. At the beginning of the season, at least for me, I had to turn off the dock clearing until there as a little bit of snow built up otherwise it would knick the edge of the dock and the ground, but now it’s also leaving a hump just like you said it gets stuck on backing onto the pad. I think if it raised the bucket all the way it would help a little but the dock clearing could use some refinement as well. One other thing that bothers me is when you have the dock clearing set to 2 passes, the auger adjusts speed multiple times while stopped and turning for the 2nd path…just stay on:sweat_smile:
