While on a mowing work area job, My Yarbo began yesterday to run forward while mowing for three seconds, stop, then back up two inches and then proceed for three seconds and so on. The mower runs the entire time. I except that the auto charging issues are related to battery temp and am wondering if this problem is also related to temp. I am on the Space Coast of Florida and the afternoon temps lately have been at 95 degrees F or higher. This afternoon I decided to let it mow, Abeit at a snails pace what with the stopping and starting. It mowed for about an hour in the heat of the afternoon and then just stopped. It would not move. I rebooted the machine but to no avail. The lights were on but I was unable to make it move even with the manual control on the app on my phone. I had to run an errand so I left Yarbo sitting in the shade of a tree where it stopped and I wondered how the heck I was going to get that beast back to the charging pad where it would be in good internet contact. I was gone for about an hour and when I returned I was able to drive it back using my iPhone app. I have been in contact with support and they are working on it. My firmware has not yet been updated but my phone app has been. I am no engineer but I wonder if temp could be a factor. I am considering mowing the yard at night.
Does the app show any status message when it stops and backs up?
If you look at the diagnostics under status what does it say when that’s happening? Usually it will say running normal.
Bryan,
Yes. It says Yarbo is trying to get unstuck. I started mowing this AM about 7:30 and at 9:05 it is still mowing with no indication of problem. I wonder if this anomaly May be temp related also. After all Yarbo was initially created for a snow blower. The battery actually has heating capability to avoid cold temp damage.
Ken,
It’s possible but I haven’t seen that yet. The only temp issue is when charging the battery. It will stop at 50 and won’t resume until it cools down to 45. Even on sunny 98 degree days my battery when it’s mowing hasn’t gone above 43. Just when charging.
I agree. My battery heats up only when charging. Even my EV car has cooling fans for recharging.
Same here. Only heats up when charging.
