[2024] What is the Snowfall Notification

Yarbo Snowfall Notification: Keep Your Driveway Snow-Free

Maintaining a clear driveway during winter can be especially challenging for homeowners in remote areas or those with large properties. Yarbo’s Snowfall Notification feature ensures your driveway remains snow-free, even when you’re not actively monitoring it.

What is Snowfall Notification?

Yarbo’s Snowfall Notification automatically clears your driveway as soon as snow begins to fall. This ensures that your driveway is ready for use, even in the early morning hours when you’re still asleep. This feature is ideal for residents in regions with frequent or heavy snowfall and for those managing large properties that require regular snow removal.

How to Use Snowfall Notification

1. Accessing Snowfall Notification

  • Open the Yarbo App.

  • Navigate to the Work Plan section and select the Schedule page.

  • Locate the Snowfall Notification and Auto Schedule buttons.

2. Setting Up Notifications

  • Activate Snowfall Notification in the app.
  • The Yarbo app will monitor the weather forecast in your area for the next 6 hours.
  • If more than 1 inch of snow is predicted within this period, you will receive a push notification asking if you’d like to schedule Yarbo to clear the snow.

3. Automatic Scheduling

  • Confirm the Notification: Upon confirmation, Yarbo will automatically create a snow-clearing schedule based on the first available work plan and the expected snowfall duration.
  • Extended Snowfall: If the snowfall continues beyond the initial prediction, Yarbo will extend the work plan to ensure your driveway remains clear until the snowfall stops.

4. Enabling Automatic Schedule Creation

  • Enable Both Features: When both Snowfall Notification and Automatically Create Schedule are enabled, the app will bypass the notification and automatically schedule snow removal without requiring your confirmation.

5. Email Reminders

  • Receive Reminders: You will receive an email reminder 5 minutes before Yarbo begins the snow-clearing work plan, keeping you informed of upcoming tasks.

6. Handling Schedule Conflicts

  • Conflict Notification: If a new snowfall schedule conflicts with an existing schedule, the app will prompt you to decide whether to override the current schedule.

    • Choose to Override: Yarbo will update the schedule to accommodate the new snowfall plan.
    • Decline to Override: Yarbo will maintain the original work plan.
  • Automatic Override: If Automatically Create Schedule is enabled, Yarbo will automatically override existing schedules with the new snowfall schedule.

Summary of Features

  • Immediate Snow Clearing: Yarbo responds as soon as snow starts falling, ensuring your driveway is always accessible.
  • Automatic Scheduling: Enable automatic scheduling to eliminate the need for manual confirmations.
  • Comprehensive Notifications: Stay informed with both email and app notifications about upcoming snow-clearing tasks.

With Yarbo’s Snowfall Notification, you can relax knowing your driveway will remain clear and accessible, no matter the weather conditions.

How often does yarbo “reschedule” the automatic work plan? Is it time based? Battery charge? Inches of accumulation? Wind? etc?

If you are talking about the Snowfall Notification feature, it does not ‘reschedule‘ automatically, unless weather API pushes another snow fall alert.

what about once you’ve either clicked the alert to confirm the auto-clearing schedule or have the auto scheduling enabled.
Edit: in reference to this terminology: “Yarbo will automatically create a snow-clearing schedule based on the first available work plan and the expected snowfall duration. Extended Snowfall: If the snowfall continues beyond the initial prediction, Yarbo will extend the work plan to ensure your driveway remains clear until the snowfall stops.”

Yes, but it will rely on the weather API to determine whether the snowfall is continuing. Based on previous experience, it is not always fully accurate.

Speaking of accuracy,

I turned on the snowfall notification feature a couple of weeks ago, and I started getting snowfall notifications at least once each day, and we have had no snow. It could be a sunny day, and I was getting the notifications.

Is there a setting somewhere I overlooked, and maybe it’s not set to my zip code or something?

Suffice it to say, I had to turn the notifications off because they were not accurate at all.

I’ve gotten at least 2 false notifications, I had the auto schedule on but luckily it never ran.

That feels good and bad.

Good it didn’t run, but bad it didn’t run.

Hi there,

Thanks for bringing this up. I’ve passed this feedback to our team and we will investigate the issue.

“In Ace Ventura’s voice” Excess much?

We didn’t even get snow today

This was happening to me like 3 or 4 weeks ago. I had to just turn it off.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Currently, there may be occasional inaccuracies in the forecast due to limitations of the weather API. This can sometimes result in snow being predicted even when no snow actually occurs.

It’s been in the 40’s all week here in Wisconsin, been getting 30-50 notifications a day since last week! Hasn’t snowed in two weeks. Where is the API looking at location? It’s not local obviously.

Unfortunately it’s never been accurate.

I suggest turning that feature off until the reliability issues are resolved unless you enjoy being spammed with erroneous snow notifications.

I think that’s what I did last year when I had turned it on and when they activated it I was getting spammed. I turned it back on in Dec and got like three notifications and runs and then it went haywire again, so yep turning it off again I guess. Was thinking my VPN was throwing it off but the app shows my location and ED-209 as same so would think the API would use that location

I would hope it’s using whatever is defined in your Yarbo.com profile. Yeah very strange why it does this sometimes. Wonder if it’s cached alerts or something that get hung up and break loose from time to time when an admin resets something.

Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. We’ve shared your feedback with our product team so they can investigate and continue improving the location/notification logic.
