Add "Gate" functionality

I would like to see an option of mapping a “gate” both to let the yarbo in and out. I have multiple areas to mow and some of them are outside a gate from the charging station. I would like to be able to map where the gate is so when I set a schedule it alerts me to let the Yarbo out of the gate, and same for when it needs to re-enter the gated area to charge.

So your suggestion is for “auto-pause at this spot.” Hmm…They are going to introduce a “Go to Waypoint” feature at some point. I wonder how that will be implemented and if it will help with your request. It’d be interesting to see a waypoint added to a Work Plan and have it pause the Work Plan. @Yarbo-Forum - any update about what development is thinking about the “Go To Waypoint” feature? I haven’t heard anything.

Other folks have talked about auto-opening gates, but that’s probably doable today by putting a tag onto the rover or using some other trigger.

consider me a plus one for this until the previously mentioned gate opening solution becomes available. Can’t wait for that feature. Hopefully it’s still on the road map.

Thank you for your valuable suggestion! We understand how this feature could be useful for many Yarbo users and have passed your suggestion along to our R&D department for consideration. We appreciate your input!

The “Go to Waypoint” feature is expected to be included in release 7. We appreciate your continuous support for Yarbo, and we’re excited to bring these updates to enhance your experience!

It would be nice to have something like amazon key to be triggered during the mowing routine to let Yarbo out/in. Something that can talk to the gate opener.

@Yarbo-Forum - It is my understanding that Go To Waypoint is a SAM feature along with Tow Mode. For Go To Waypoint to help with a gate, the feature needs to be on the mower at least, as that’s when users are most likely to need to open a gate.

Thank you for your input on the gate feature! Our product team is currently working on designing the basic structure for it. Our initial idea is that this feature will be independent of the “Go To Waypoint” functionality and will be applied across all modules. We appreciate your feedback!

I have a need for this on the snow blower and leaf blower too. Waypoints should be 100% universal like a pathway. Module independent.

This can be as simple as an area or job setting that does not allow yarbo to move on to the next or to recharge. Just give me a notification when complete and I can open the gate and ten tap recharge. As it is I have several areas that I have to be lucky enough to catch yarbo when it’s done and cancel the recharge before it crashes into the fence

I deleted my pathway through the fence. Without a way back to the dock, it just stops where it finishes the plan. You can then drive it manually back into the back yard or wherever and then tap recharge.

I do that some times, but it’s nice for it to automatically drive to its next destination once you tell it to resume.

I’d love this feature. I let Yarbo try to “go” through the gate once, thinking that the cameras would see it, or that it’d gently touch it (as configured). But no, it hit rather hard (no damage), and repeatedly. So yeah, having it pause when “seeing” obstacles in a pathway would be very useful. Thanks!

Obstacle avoidance in pathways is now in beta. Not sure when you tried that last, but now in theory it should stop and alert you that the path is obstructed. If it’s got a path back to the charger, it will return to the dock. If not, it stops and waits for you. It is a work in progress and a beta though. So YMMV.

Pathway and rfid. I will say even without api access this is doable. This is automation at its best. I can think of many ways to overcome this without Yarbo.

My Yarbo stopped about 4 feet from a a parked car in our driveway last week. Two months ago it ran under the bumper.

It’s not perfect by any means, but that is awesome to hear. I’ve heard a few stories like this after they released this. One person completely forgot the car was in the pathway and it stopped. They said they normally always double check that, but this time they forgot. Life happens. Even an imperfect beta still saved their car and Yarbo. The only bad thing about it though is it can give a false sense of security. No one should rely on it as a rule. But it will hopefully cover down on those unexpected and forgetful moments.

open your gate and create a pathway going out the gate then close it when he is done. that’s what i do

Sometimes that’s not enough…

Support suggested adding a no vision zone.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well that would solve it but definitely would hit the gate if closed then.
