I have 2 different sections of yard that the yarbo has trouble with gps. I am using NetRTK and have tried switching the antennas. I currently have the vision assist set at 5m but sometimes it isn’t enough. I am trying to figure out if I have bad antennas or if this is normal for the amount of trees. See pictures. Thanks!
Yarbo is at the bottom left of the picture.
It’s possible that the tree combined with the side of the building might be blocking enough GPS signals to cause issues.
I have larger trees on my property that my Yarbo handles just fine though. Seems that some people’s Yarbos are more sensitive to GPS signals than others.
Agreed. I think I have worse tree cover in spots and I don’t really have any issues. Mapping is very picky (as it should be) with GPS signal. Bump up your mapping PPVS to 8m and I think you’ll be ok. Just watch the machine closely the first couple of runs to make sure it’s following the boundary as you’d expect it to. Also, time of day can also make a big difference when mapping. Midday isn’t ideal. Very early morning or late evenings tend to work better from my experience.
Hi there! You could try increasing the In-Area Travel Distance under the PPVS settings and see if that helps Yarbo get through those two areas more reliably.
Also, are you currently using the Pro RTK Antenna? If not, the Pro RTK Antenna may help improve GPS performance in areas like these where trees and nearby structures can partially block the satellite signal.

Thanks! Yeah I had to set the PPVS to 12m. I just wanted to make sure that was normal and there wasn’t something wrong with the antenna. (I do have the pro).
Does anyone have any trouble cutting early in the morning/ late night with dew making the grass wet?
Also I take the mower to my parents house occasionally and that’s why I’m using the Netrtk. From what I understand if I used the DC and went outside of the Halo range it will default to cellular.
Assuming the yarbo would be using cellular for both cases does one give a better positioning result? (Netrtk vs DC both being accessed using cellular?)
I have grass that gets very wet. I can’t cut after 8pm, and not till around 11am. It all depends on your type of grass and soil.
I have tried both using the DC and netRTK, and I don’t notice any difference at all.
Yea, don’t try cutting wet grass. Set your schedule to start after the dew is gone, and end at ~sunset.
And for your RTK setting, theoretically both should be pretty much the same as long as your DC is properly mounted with an appropriate view of the sky.

Actually one last question that I think I know the answer to but will ask anyway.
It gets used at my parents house more than my own. I don’t want to have to worry about the 30 minutes/mo of video over cellular. I think it would make the most sense to switch to the DC and mount at their house that way the video goes over the halo network and not cellular. And when I bring it back to my house use Cellular back to the DC and I won’t be using any video time over cellular.
Does that make the most sense?

Makes the most sense to me given your description. NetRTK is a benefit here because you can move the DC anywhere and not have to “Reinstall Data Center” for the new position. That action wipes your maps.
