My battery temp regularly hits the 50°C cutoff when charging with ambient temps about 90°F This occurs at 50-60% SOC. This makes the mower unusable during daytime hours. To make things worse, when it’s unable to charge it sits there continues to discharge. I have have 4 acres and it needs most of t…

I’m catching up on posts here and see that some folks have taken to directly modifying the battery box cover - cutting a hole, installing a fan, etc. I’m thinking down a similar path but hesitant to modify the existing cover. Doesn’t look like there are replacements available with the rest of the …

This has been asked numerous times and nobody has responded in the affirmative. Did you check OnShapes library to see if one exists? I can’t check at the moment.

I keep looking but there doesn’t seem to be one. With all the odd models there (insulation mount, spindle cover) you would think a battery cover would be easy, but I don’t have the equipment to design one, so I keep waiting. In my mind the best design would be something like this that blows out the…

JNS: My apologies. My search turned up nothing as well - thus the hail mary pass for asking in an open forum. I don’t (yet) have onshape access, but can look into it. KingLerch: Agreed - blowing out and down ( think dryer vent ) would seem to be the way to go. Ideally you’d have two fans, one as …

If the leaf blower was back mountable, you could pipe the output from that sucker into the battery compartment. It may turn into a hovercraft at that point though. Just spit balling it here…

As unsightly as I anticipated, but Plasti Dip applied. For those not familiar, it can be peeled off later. [IMG_9166]

To be fair, I’d bet that Yellow (if you can find one to match) would work almost as well. And if you find one, do that top of the core as well. Heat from there goes right into the battery compartment as well. The question is - how much impact does the white have? Can’t wait for results.

Prolly right. Just going for the color that clashed the most. They do make a yellow I don’t expect more than a 1-2 degrees C while discharging, but every degree lower is another 10-15 min of full charging power before its starts throttling.

I’ve been collecting some data on this with some sensors and esp32, this graph shows the temperatures before and after I added a single layer of white vinyl over the battery cover. Surface temperature would peak around 140F before, and 120F after, with some change to the internal temperature as wel…
