Thank you for your thoughtful consideration regarding the shipping cost! We’ve confirmed that there’s no additional damage to your core. The reason we’re sending a new core is because the cover piece is connected to multiple internal cables, some of which are difficult to remove and can be easily damaged during disassembly. To minimize the risk of issues during the process, we believe sending a new core is the safer and more efficient solution.
As for the weather sealer, please follow the instructions we provided. Be sure to let it cure for 72 hours before use. You can also refer to this video for guidance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f30Vfp8tZHs&t=112s
Thanks again for your patience and support. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out anytime.
I think they will need another sealing kit since the one they had was just used on the core that is going back? Or will the new core already be sealed?
Correct Mr. Wheeler. I put the weather sealer that was mailed out on the board last night. That would be very thoughtful if it could be sealed before it is sent to me from the factory. If not I guess I’ll have to do it and wait another 72 hours after getting it here. Wondering? When I get the new core. What all needs to be returned? I’m guessing this core will go back in the old box? They’re shipped with plastic bands, that hold everything together. When i put it back in the other box for return, are they sending me the straps to hold the box together? Or different type of shipping, to strap down the tracks to hold the core in place? Fedex only has one man/woman per truck, and nothing to help them load or unload the packages. You see this type of straps, holding the autos, and trucks to trailers all the time. Just wanted the core to be protected, for the return trip back to Yarbo. Thanks for the help in this issue.
Whatever is in the new replacement box is what needs to get swapped out and sent back. Sometimes it includes a controller and DC. Sometimes not. You don’t need to swap the DC unless you want to. You can keep your existing one in place and it will pair to the new core during the install process. But a DC needs to go back if one was in the box.
As for the bands, you can slide them off and keep them intact. Takes some finagling but it’s by far the best way to ship it back. Once you get a couple of the cardboard supports out, they come off pretty easily.
Thanks again. Sounds like a plan then. What is the ETA for shipment? Never heard back on the weather sealer. If it was coming from the factory, or if I would have to do it again? It’s not any problem to do. Just waiting for another core, and then if I have to apply it again, the 72 hour wait again. Grass is growing in Northeast GA.
Ask in your support ticket if you’ll need a kit and if they can send one. It’s a precaution in most cases so you can use the unit if you need to. It will be covered under warranty should something happen in the interim. It’s just easier when it’s new and clean. You may get lucky and it will already be done.
Finally heard back from them today. This is what was in the email. No ETA yet.
" Thank you for your update.
Please don’t worry about the waterproof kit — we will be sending you a new one shortly.
To ensure that your Yarbo is well protected during transportation,we will first send you a replacement Yarbo core.
You can then use its packaging to return your original Yarbo unit safely.
We appreciate your continued support and cooperation.
Well the new core showed up today from FedEx. Let’s hope this one is better shape. It really looked like they just tossed it out of the truck. Left it at the bottom of my driveway, outside my fence. No call, for me to open my gate. Just drop, and run. No signing anything.
Slide the bands off and reuse them. Once you get one or two of those cardboard reinforcements out, they come off pretty easy. Mine was similarly beat up and it was fine.
Thanks again Mr. Wheeler for all your help. I contacted support again. As we thought. No Sealer.
Hello again.
Just got the new core. I was hoping the new board would have waterproofing sealer already on it. As I stated a week ago. “I will have to waterproof the board once it gets here. That’s another 72 hours wait if not after I get it. Can I have it before the unit arrives?” Well still no sealer has been sent. I wanted to get this done before using the unit, as it would be a lot cleaner, than after I got the new core. Can we overnight me some sealer please. This waiting for weeks, after week, on end is getting bothersome. We have some very wet weather coming over the next 4 days. It would be a great time to put it on, and let it cure inside. The box the new core was in wasn’t in the best of shape from FedEx. Hopefully no damage this time. I posted pictures in the Yarbo Forum. Please and thank you.
So how long will this take to get? There are so many things to waterproof these boards with. I’m sure this is a form of epoxy resin to coat a circuit board. Epoxy provides both waterproof protection and mechanical strength. Aero-Marine Products use this high-performance epoxy because It’s a transparent, and clear potting compound because It’s also waterproof. If you need to submerge a board in water, epoxy potting or a waterproof enclosure is necessary. So the entire board, and wires are placed in a pot then encapsulated. It’s waterproof, no second guessing at that point. If none is available, can we submit a product for approval for warranty to give a thumbs up, or down? I really don’t want to wait one, or two weeks to get an epoxy resin, to have to wait another 72 hours to cure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for all the great help everyone. You Guys rock!
It’s not an epoxy. It’s a silicone type coating. It self levels and cures. It stays flexible which is important because the conformal coating from the factory is inflexible and the wires embedded in it can expand and contract over time and temperature. This could eventually lead to premature failure of the coating. There are some instances of a factory defect in the coating due to air bubbles which are the main reason for the kit. The air bubbles are causing failure in the integrity of the coating and allowing water to penetrate into the circuit board and cause a short circuit. If you don’t see any air bubbles, just use it. You’re covered under warranty. It sucks to clean it up after the fact but it also sucks not being able to use it. It can take about a week for it to arrive once they ship it. Shipping times are a little all over the map. I’d recommend putting a ticket in asking to check on the status of the kit. You’ll get the best status that way.
Thanks again Mr. Wheeler. I did everything you said. That was 10 days ago. Both here in the Forum. Also in my ticket to them, and a follow up email. I thought the sealer would be applied at the factory, after we both talked about it here. The the reply back about them coming, the new core, and sealer 10 days ago. The core beat the sealer. Thanks again.
Yeah it just depends on what stock you are getting. Some of the stock has it fixed, some of the stock doesn’t. If you want, post a photo of your power board and I would be happy to look at it and see if I see any concerns that I would recommend waiting for the sealer for.
@Yarbo-Forum would you be able to check on the status of the ticket and sealant for the new core?
If the power board is mounted vertically on the side of your Yarbo or is already covered with black sealing glue, then there’s no need to apply the sealing kit. However, if it is placed horizontally like on your previous rover, and the power board sealing appears transparent, please let me know — I’ll contact the logistics team to arrange sending you a sealing kit. We apologize for the delayed response!
Thanks great to know. This one is mounted vertically. Does seem to already covered with black sealing glue. It being a different color than the other sealant. Thanks again for all the help everyone.
