Front camera stopped working

Same thing also in my lawnmower unit and snowblower unit

I ran my lawnmower unit today and it kept running into trees and when I stood in front of It ran right into me.

We’re really sorry to hear about the issue you’ve encountered. It’s definitely not normal for the front camera to be offline, and we understand how frustrating that must be.

We’ve created a support ticket for you (#75562), and our support team will be reaching out shortly to help identify the cause and provide a solution.

The front camera plays an important role in obstacle detection and avoidance, so if it’s offline, that could explain why your lawnmower ran into trees and didn’t stop when you were in front of it. We’ll do our best to get this resolved for you as quickly as possible.

@DP1 - Usually Restart Yarbo System or pulling the battery on the rover for several seconds and then powering it back up clears this issue, which seems to happen a fair bit as reported out on FB Groups (it happened once for me). After it’s corrected it stays fixed for most folks. Why yours keeps coming back on different modules I don’t know, maybe yours is an exception that Support will diagnose/fix.

Another thing is it’s recommended that you power down Yarbo while swapping modules over. Could that have something to do with it? (If that’s what causes this, the firmware should guard against it.)

Your rover firmware is at the latest, yes? (3.7.4)

Restart has worked to fix the problem. Cameras are working.

Cool. I would suggest letting your rover update to firmware 3.8.4 (being rolled out now) and see if that helps the issue stay gone. I know work is needed on the cameras as part of the object detection, so Yarbo could have robustified camera reliability. Definitely contact Support if the issue persists.

Yes, it is working. Thank you for all the help. You guys are doing a tremendous job.

My front camera constantly disconnects. This causes it to stop at night or mow very very poorly in daytime. I’ve tried multiple resets, all the way off and back on, battery disconnect, mower deck removal and reattachment. It eventually comes back on but I’m not sure what actually works or how long it will stay on. This mower is not saving me any time at all–I could mow my lawn manually in all the time I’ve spent trying to get Yarbo to work correctly. And my lawn looks bad with raggedy, poorly cut grass. I need a fix for this problem.

Have you submitted a ticket for this? This could potentially be an old camera firmware issue. If so, they can manually update the cameras and see if that helps. They may also have other fixes I am unaware of. Previous guidance was just to reboot the core from the app. I always like to do that before I start a work plan. Also, do not hot swap your modules. Shutdown the core from the app and then swap them. This will also cause the cameras to have issues.

Yes, but they haven’t offered any solutions–just requests for pictures. I’ve only had my unit for a month or so and it updated the firmware when I initialized. I’ll try shutting it down next time before I clean the mower deck. Thanks for the tip.

My camera makes the same thing on the mower. I don’t know, when will it turn off but for me it seems random. Restart helps. Also tested on myself that if the camera is not working then obstacle avoidance is also off, so be careful!

Rebooting should clear the typical issue. If this happens and it’s not after a hot swap (don’t do hot swaps, it causes issues) then there might be a firmware or other hardware issue. I would first try to pull the battery cable for 5 mins and reconnect the module connector on the mower. Then apply power and turn it on. If that doesn’t clear the issue, I would submit a ticket to have support check it out.

Restarting or rebooting helps, but it is an issue. In the perfect world you don’t have to check every day if the camera works? Possibly it is firmware issue and I believe many users haven’t even noticed it.

Agreed, they probably haven’t until it hits something. Even then, if the bumper activated properly, they might not even know.
