GPS signal stability problems after the latest update

Same here on my end. My yarbo has been running great until now. Just today it lost signal and paused maybe 20 different times in locations that have had zero problems with gps signal. I finally decided to end the plan when I realized that where the map showed yarbo, was probably 10 yards off from where my yarbo actually was (it kept circling this tree and bumping into it, when the map showed it was in the center of my backyard). I manually drove the yarbo back to the docking station to charge and look into it tomorrow, but I can’t even get it to start charging now because it thinks it’s sitting in my neighbors yard. No idea how everything got so far off, but I’m trying to decide if I reinstall the data center, or try something else. I’d hate to lose my current maps.

If it’s perfectly aligned on the docking station it could think it was in Asia and it should still charge if you tap the battery icon on the main page. Check and make sure that your DC hasn’t moved. Check your core for GPS antenna damage. If you get it to charge on the dock and all looks good, look in the app to see where it thinks it is when charging. If it’s off the docking station still, you have map drift. This can be corrected usually, but conditions need to be ideal before doing so.

try turning off and restarting yarbo to make sure it’s not a temporary bug.

Re:[## 115864 ##] GPS stability with PPV beta
Dear Yarbo User,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

The behavior you’re observing with the GPS signal alternating between green and orange while the PPV beta is active is expected and considered normal during certain conditions, especially while the unit is docked.

Please rest assured that this does not affect the overall efficiency or performance of the system. Your Yarbo will continue to operate as intended.

If you notice any performance issues during operation or have further concerns, feel free to let us know — we’re happy to help.

Best regards,
Jordan
Team Yarbo

I pointed out that this means that he cannot carry out the work plan if the signal is orange and that he cannot install the docking station if the signal is not green and stable for three seconds.

I would say it is not normal unless your quality was fluctuating. It seems your RTK status is changing from 4 to 2. Is that right? If so, that isn’t normal. Especially if it stops when you disable the beta.

I think so too

Backer #39 on the original 2023 version and now on the 2024 version. This latest update has done a number on the GPS. Haven’t had a single issue until now. Hope this gets an update soon! We have tried every suggested solution with no luck.

Michael

Hopefully you have a ticket open?

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing. With the latest update, the new PPVS feature introduced a quality metric, which can sometimes affect the ability to start a work plan.

For now, turning off PPVS — as you’ve done — is a good workaround. Our support team will continue following up with you through your ticket. Since PPVS is still in beta, we’ll keep refining and improving this feature.

For the last 3 days I’ve tried power cycling DC and core 3 times without regaining satellite reception for the Rover. DC shows solid green as it always has. All this happened after the last update. Just 10 days ago the yarbo unit mowed my entire lawn without any issues. Now I have an expensive lawn ornament. This is no coincidence. A roll back of the update would be more appropriate than running folks through a useless troubleshooting process when there’s one common denominator. I have not yet submitted a ticket because I am suffering from support fatigue. I’m on my 4th core in less than a year. Once I take a breatherI will submit my ticket. I’ll stare at my ornament for a few more days.

Curious if you have tried turning off PPVS, others have stated this has helped.

It’s under Yarbo Settings, Yarbo Lab.

Yes I did disable that. I have read and done everything suggested. I reinstalled my DC to make sure it was in the right place following the app instructions. Sure enough the spp said I had a strong signal in my current location with 28 satellites. Of course I now have to reinstall my docking pad and redraw my areas….. all of which needs GPS reception by the core…. which I don’t have🤷🏿‍♂️. I didn’t expect a positive result since everything was almost perfect before the update however I know these are the hoops tech support are going to run me through so I have done everything already before I write my ticket. I was a military and civilian pilot in another life (retired now) so troubleshooting and quick analysis is easy for me. First question in any new issue is “what changed?” Then does returning to the previous configuration fix the problem. I’m 99.99% sure that the upgrade caused this issue since 10 days ago I had great GPS reception and successfully had my yarbo mow all my lawn areas without an issue. After 3 power cycles of the DC and core and the reinstallation of the DC (I guess that’s 4 power cycles) I have a useless lawn ornament. To me a roll back of the upgrade and selective redeployment would be the right thing to do. I now have no GPS reception on the core. As I said before I will be submitting a ticket but I just needed time to exhale.

Do you have zero L2 satellites by chance? I’m seeing a few reports of this on the other platforms.

Yes the diagnostic shows Rover L2:0 if that helps. My last successful mow was September 1st according to the history. I’m pretty sure that was before this update. I hope it gets solved quickly. I did finally submit a ticket so I’ll see what other ideas tech support have. Seems like a temporary rollback of the update is needed if there’s no quick solution. I had to pay someone to mow my lawn because of the last issue.

I have the same issue, rtk status 4, L2 is reading 0. DC is seeing 26+ satellites. I have a work ticket in for it already. Yarbo is shipping ke a replacement rtk cable, but seeing others experiencing the same condition I’m less convinced its a hardware issue.

My current (4th) core was delivered to me 11 August. Last successful mow was September 1st with no satellite reception issues. Suddenly I have no satellite reception…after the last update. It is ridiculous to go through a standard troubleshooting tree when the only change was an update with a unit in sevice less than one month. I have been patient so far however there seems to be a refusal to admit this is an update issue. This is not going to encourage people to buy more yarbos. I certainly wouldn’t. Rolling back the update should not meet so much resistance. It is not a coincidence that this issue popped up after This last update. Frankly I am lucky to have such an understanding wife given the cost of these units. I’m not giving up yet but the yarbo folks need to be proactive about this issue.

To be fair, my issue coincided with a broken RTK antenna, so I understand that the cable seems like the next troubleshooting step. So I’ll replace the cable when it gets here, and update support afterwards. We’ll see. I’m hoping theres a software based solution as it seems to be a bit more of a common issue.

I understand good luck.

disable the new ppv beta system

Tried that. No luck.
