How can I release tension on the impeller / reverse it manually?

My Yarbo snowblower sucked up a piece of wood and it is wedged solidly between the impeller and chassis. How can I release tension, or what do I need to disassemble to get this stuck piece out?

I can think of two options.

You could try the ‘reverse auger button in the app. It rotates the auger at slow rpm.

If that doesn’t work, you could remove the snowblower module from Yarbo and try manually rotating the auger from the rear.

If neither works, you might just need to cut the piece of wood out of the auger.

Good luck. Please let us know what happens.

As @rgloverii mentioned, reverse auger may be the ticket. The other thing you could do is remove the shear pins and it should move a little more easily then. Cutting it out would also be a good option.

Also, just a note, it’s not recommended to tip yarbo on the side with the modules attached. it really puts a strain on those connecting pins. I know it’s a pain to remove the module because of the cable cover screw, but that’s the easiest way to work with the modules/core. Makes it all a lot lighter too.

You can try the suggestions shared by @rgloverii and @bryan.wheeler to see if they help resolve the issue. That said, please pay close attention to safety if you plan to manually rotate any part of the auger or impeller. Make sure the unit is fully powered off, disconnected, and cannot start unexpectedly before attempting anything by hand. Wearing gloves and using proper tools instead of bare hands is also strongly recommended.

Hope this helps, and good luck getting it cleared safely.

Great reminder. E-Stop activated and pull the battery just in case.

Try to hit the piece of wood with a chisel it may split into two pieces.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ve been sick for the past week and haven’t returned to the Yarbo but hopefully I’ll be able to tomorrow, and I’ll be sure to post updates.

Sorry, forgot to reply to this, but I used a hammer and small axe and split the wood apart enough to pull it out. I tried removing the shear pins but there was so much tension on them that they wouldn’t budge. I did have to remove the front guard first but I am up and running.

Glad to hear your Yarbo is back in operation. Hopefully no more ingesting foreign materials from this point forward.
