I’ve got three different VLAN’s at home (Normal/Guest/IoT:Hidden), and I want the Yarbo on the IoT network, which has a hidden SSID. When setting up the Yarbo I didn’t see a way to manually put in a network name. Am I missing something? If not then has anyone had any experience with broadcasting the SSID, connecting the Yarbo, then hiding the SSID again?
I would not recommend connecting to your home WiFi, it is known to cause issues and is unnecessary in most cases. HaLow should cover your whole yard and cellular can be toggled on for free to be used as a backup.
@bryan.wheeler is 100% correct. There’s no reason to connect the rover to WiFi. HaLow provides the data connection the rover needs.
Lots of my navigation and stall problems went away after pressing “forget wifi”.
Yep, some people swear they have no issues using it. But, I thought a lot of my loss of GPS issues and network connection issues were software issues. They turned out to be that any time my rover got close to the house, it would latch onto WiFi and stall things during the switchover. It’s not supposed to prefer WiFi, but it sure seems to.
Good information, not what I was expecting though, lol. WiFi has now been disconnected and forgotten.
So two questions then:
- It’s mentioned this is a bug, I’m assume that Yarbo knows and will be working on it?
- How’s the viewing the cameras work without the WiFi? I didn’t think the HaLow had the throughput for such features.
It’s a known bug that I believe they will eventually get to.
HaLow can absolutely handle the bandwidth for the cameras, just limited to not working during an auto plan although that is being worked on.
Yarbo can rely on HaLow to transfer camera data, and Smart Vision will work when Yarbo is connected either via HaLow or Wi-Fi. So even without Wi-Fi, as long as the HaLow connection is stable, you should still be able to view the camera feed.
