It’s finally Tow Mode time!

Look at what I just got. The latest iOS update’s release notes say that Tow Mode is included!

Of course there will need to be the associated firmware update, but this suggests the release is imminent!

Sweeper is one of the options. What specification would a useable sweeper have?

I would only recommend a self powered sweeper, as the core speed is just too slow for any sort of mechanical one that relies on the speed of the towing device.

What would be an example of a 56" self powered tow behind lawn sweeper? In the section of the internet I’m looking at, they don’t exist. The closest one I can find is 9 inches too wide and costs more than $10k Canadian.

I honestly don’t know. I just know that several people have told me the core moves too slow to do much with a traditional lawn sweeper. Small sticks and pine cones it may be ok with, but not for heavy leaves and grass. Not enough momentum.

My understanding is that the issue is how fast the brushes turn, and that enough traction is needed to use the high ratio needed for yarbo speeds. ChatGPT says Agri-Fab Lawn Sweeper 44-in. It seem like whoever added “sweeper” to the app might have tested one.

Yeah, a lawn sweeper would be great to use with Yarbo theoretically, but in practice there are two issues:

1). Yarbo moves too slow for the brushes to effectively sweep the grass

2). A sweeper (especially one filled with leaves) is too heavy for Yarbo to easily turn tightly into neat rows.

I spent a bunch of time trying to do it last year using the app to manually control it. Wasn’t worth the trouble. Easier and quicker to go pull out the zero turn instead.

What model of sweeper did you use?

I have a Cub Cadet sweeper. I’m pretty sure it’s 50”.

Would have been nice if Yarbo could pull it successfully. Unfortunately it is just too slow.

I would like to use this with a tine style aerator. Would there be issues?

I’d also like to use it with a broadcast spreader, but have 3 concerns: controlling the flow of what ever is spread, the risk of reducing the life of the robot if spreading things like salt or fertilizer, knowing when the hopper is empty. Any ideas?

I think the aerator would be ok but I would test run without it attached and make sure it behaves in a manner you’d expect it to.

As for the broadcast spreader, I would not recommend using fertilizer and I would be sure and block off the spray towards the robot for all of the reasons you listed.
