So I read a few times about mapping. A couple of hints and helps like. " Mapping strategy:
Up to you! Most folks break up their property into areas that “make sense” in a mental map. My Yarbo mowing map reflects how I mow my property in sections with the riding mower. One huge Area is possible but can be difficult to manage, so it’s recommended to break it up into smaller Areas."
So I was finally able to get my whole yard mapped. It was super hot, and I pushed though. I did the entire yard while baking in the heat. I wanted to break it up in sections. But pushed to get everything out lined so to speak. Then later this evening, started some NO GO zones. Have a larger yard, so I’ll try to finish the NO GO’s tomorrow or the next day, if the heat stays away. After mapping the entire place, is there a way to break it up in zones? Or will I have to remap everything again, zone by zone? Or can I just break it up with the map I have, and go over what areas, with an edit? Thanks again for all the help.
Hi there,
Currently, we do support splitting areas. However, after splitting, you can only retain one of the regions and will need to remap the other. Additionally, you can edit your map by expanding it or making more complex edits by driving your Yarbo to draw the new boundary.

These are my words, and I apologize for the lack of clarity, which I have updated.
Note that if you have mapped as one large Area and are happy with it, that is fine – it’ll work – and perhaps that’s the best way for your particular needs. If you find you would like more flexibility with things like Settings and Scheduling, you can consider mapping separate Areas…but on a cool day, OK?
Hint: If you have mapped No-go Zones and No-vision Zones, those will continue working no matter how your Areas may change. On the downside you will need to re-create Pathways and Deadends if an Area associated with them is deleted.
As @Yarbo-Forum said, you cannot “break up an Area” at this time, just add to or carve chunks off. Such a “split” feature may come at some point.
The app shows that when you split you get to retain both sections, however as noted above it’s got a bug and only one section is retained. To add further, with the recent updates I’ve been unable to split areas at all. It could be that my app is updated but the firmware isn’t, not sure. But if you put the effort in to map it all I would be cautious splitting it until they get things fixed up.
@tallman.brew - That’s how Edit Area works where you get to keep one of those sections from the list. There is a request to keep everything so you effectively “split” the Area.
There IS a known bug, though, which I think you noticed: When you use Edit Area and click Next, if you are shown just one item in the list to keep, you’ve hit the bug. Back out of there, and do your Edit Area again, only keep driving the rover for another few feet after you see Next. It should then present you with the additional choice of section to keep as expected. (I’ve not tried this workaround - I think Yarbo mentioned it on Facebook, and I’m passing it along.)
Ok thanks I’ll give it a try. I tried to split one area a few times each time driving further past the boundary with no luck.
It’s fine anyway I don’t want to lose one of the sections. That’s more of the issue I think they need to resolve. Split would indicate 2 from 1, vs only 1 from the 2 options. The help graphic even shows it letting you select two areas to keep when you split. Until they get that fixed I don’t see much reason to use the split function.
