My Yarbo is wearing a path in front of my charging dock. This is mainly because it makes a 180 degree zero-turn in the same spot every time it enters the dock. Then when it leaves the dock, it advances straight forward about 10’ and makes a zero-turn to various points on the map, again in the same spot. I tried changing my pathway into the dock, but it still makes these turns in the same spots. Possible solutions to this are:
Add the option to select 3-point turns instead of zero-turns when entering and leaving the docking station. This will reduce abrasion on the turf.
Or let the users introduce some variability in where these turns are made. Don’t always make them in the same spots. Right now that doesn’t seem to be an option.

Scott Grams (out on FB) mentioned he was going to try Yard Savers. I saw an equivalent from Vevor that’s different but way cheaper that could work.
My concern is how those Yard Saver like items would work with the snowblower. I don’t know how far those things get buried into the ground at the ends/sides, and when the snowblower comes by, oops. The solution may be to put the Docking Station somewhere not near grass you like if you can. Mine is currently on grass I like but is turning it into grass I don’t like, so problem solved!
I was trying to think how I’d keep the snowblower from running into these things, and, yeah, I guess the Pathways and Sidewalks I have near the Docking Station for the snowblower could be set with a higher auger if needed. I could also bury some pavers at the level of the soil I guess, and make it look decent.
Or just say I didn’t see the grass carnage and go do something else. Yeah, sounds good.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’ve received similar feedback regarding route optimization, and we truly appreciate you highlighting this specific case. We’ll pass it along to our product team and will do our best to explore solutions that help reduce wear on the grass.
I am not sure why but it does tend to zero turn in front of the docking station pathway. But mine has always smart turned or zero turned based on my recharge turn preferences. Is it smart turning directly in front of the dock but zero turning in from the dock pathway?
