Hey all. New to site. Jack (of all trades) has a question. Has anyone been moving around heavy trailer. Say 3000 pounds. I am guessing you can’t put 300 pounds of tongue weight on the back even if you raised a ball high enough for the trailer to be level. The core would just Cat Walk and probably tear out the running gear. So next option is raise the ball and put a roller under the leg. Problem here is now you can adjust the tongue weight but it’s still only on the back. My guess here is Cat Walk or track slip.
Anyway. These are my guesses. I have a few design ideas but thought I would see if anyone here has previous experience and if the support guys can tell me the total weight that can be added to a centre point braced to the frame without risking the frame, motors or running gear. As of yet I have not done any experimenting so all ideas will be appreciated.
In theory with the tongue weight adjusted it could tow that briefly on flat ground. I’d consider the BBM for it long term if that’s your plan. It’s not designed to do that load daily though. Here are the specs. Also keep in mind the robot with module is only around 200 lbs, so no braking or ability to resist that load pushing it.
I defiantly will. Going to have to do some math. Only elevating the hitch a foot is an issue. It will leave the front of the trailer low increasing the tongue weight. Not good. Going to have to get out the slide rule for this one.
