NGZ Snow throw direction?

If you edit the maps and select a no go zone, why would you want to be able to set a snow throwing direction on a NGZ?

Just in case you end up in one? :joy: J/K. It’s probably bleed over from the trimmer. You can set a trimming edge on NGZ’s for the trimmer.

Yeah, that’s an interesting glitch. Do you have a screenshot or anything you could share with support on that one? Maybe a timeframe so they can check your logs?

This is a male tree in the yard. I think this is what he is talking about?

He seems pretty lonely and you want to throw snow on him too? Poor guy. Wonder if that Maple syrup would be sour?

It won’t let you save it though.

I didn’t know my NGZ for my car needed to know what direction to throw snow? All the extra NGZs are to keep Yarbo out of the yard. Works great.

Great workaround!

Thanks for letting us know. I’ve reported this to our product team, and we’ll look to optimize it going forward.

I was just minorly scolded by support for having paths end in no-go zones…although I definitely think it’s a needed feature…. Also I can confirm the “throwing directions” can be set on no-go zones and then they don’t save or show once your exit.

Please tell me you are kidding about being scolded. I hope they fix the product to handle that use case. Otherwise there needs to be a giant list that they share of how to configure mapping. I swear sometimes it feels like I’m learning by failing with this thing.

Spoke to soon. I just got scolded for having paths end in no-go zones. It keeps selecting a path that violates the NGZs to return. even though it got there fine. Again, Yarbo won’t stay out of the yard.

They are aware of the issue with bypassing NGZ’s and looking into a fix. Basically do not use NGZ’s to fully block paths and areas. I’d recommend removing pathways from the driveway and sidewalks that allow it to get to a mowing area. If you have a mowing area that overlaps and it ends the plan in that overlap, it will most likely find a way to the dock through the yard if that is the quickest path. I’d suggest pathways from the dock directly to the driveway for now and delete any that it continues to try and use going into a mowing area for a shortcut to the dock.

Also, another note of caution. Since Yarbo is forcing the setting of snow throw directions on all areas, be sure and set the module height to 1 inch or higher in those areas that you set a throwing direction. This is just in case it ends up in the yard that you aren’t scalping the grass at the default 0.14 inches.

I took the approach of saving my map and removed the lawn areas. Theory being in spring I can reload the map.

I will have to go through ALL areas and review all settings as settings are set to default values when maps are restored.

Same @ken.w.gregory.

What I have come to the conclusion for my maps-Overlap of areas and stacked pathways and or sidewalks are tough.

No way am I redoing all those settings:melting_face::melting_face::melting_face:, the bottom 2 areas wouldn’t be too bad to redo as they were just test spots at a neighbors but yikes that would take a while:sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile:, although I guess I do have to reset heights from the fall “low height” to normal summer height…:thinking::thinking:…still…

When spring gets here, I can either reload the map or remap the areas I deleted.

I may just do that. Time will tell.

Keep in mind work plans, schedules, and all settings default when you restore. Don’t forget to check all area, pathways, etc.

…yeah definitely too lazy to do that:sweat_smile::joy::rofl:
