Snow direction not set

I am having a new issue I cant seem to resolve - I set up a driveway map and added a pathway from my docking station to the drive way - it worked first week of november and stopped working this last week and half ( of course right when we had 4 days of snow) - it keeps saying snow direction not set on pathway - I keep adding it or deleting and recreating it, and it still wont start the work plan …

Thoughts ideas or suggestions?

Maybe post a screenshot of the relevant portion of your map? Maybe we can see where its gone wrong?

Check this post. I did the same thing.

Ran into this. You have to set snow throw directions on all pathways even if they are not relevant. Also any areas it cross getting to your snow areas. Driving to and from snow areas Yarbo doesn’t stay in the snow areas but crosses anything it wants.

Eh, I’m not sure it’s all pathways. I’ve got many, and not touched them.

I think it’s any areas that are, in any way, underneath an area or pathway you’ll be using. Think overlap - the core won’t be sure which area it’s in unless it’s actually working a specific area. If it’s just traveling in a spot where 3 or 5 areas overlap, it’ll have no clue which one to pick. So where there’s an overlapping area (for the mower, or blower, etc), give those a direction as well.

Set every single area that can have a boundary set.
Every.
Single.
One.

Every? I don’t really want it snow blowing across my yard. This same issue happened to me today. I have a lawn on both sides of my driveway, and I have 3 pathways that cross them. I don’t want the snowblower to take the pathway into the yard to get to the charger. I want it to go down the driveway to the pathway and area that both have the blowing direction set.

Agreed. Or ideally ones labeled for Snow Blower.

Yeah, I was so excited to see those labels for the areas, but they don’t seem to do much of anything. I just ended up deleting the pathways that cross the driveway and I’ll recreate them in the spring.

I get this error for one of the “sidewalks” I have set and literally have the throw direction set on every single area, pathway, sidewalk, etc. Even the unrelated ones for mowing in the summer. Haven’t heard back from support on this one it’s real strange. Funny enough it actually will go clear the path without an issue, but when it’s time to back itself out and return to the dock the no snow direction error shows up and it doesn’t want to move anywhere. Kind of bizarre that they wouldn’t list the applicable area/path/etc. in this error message as it would make debugging a heck of a lot easier.

Agreed, it certainly would. A snap to the area on the map or something to highlight the problem issue would certainly be useful.

Hi there, could you please go to the Edit Map page and check the Area List to make sure that every area has a snow-throwing direction set?
If even one area is missing this setting, it can cause the issue you’re seeing.

If you’ve confirmed that all areas are properly configured but the problem still continues, then please submit a support ticket with the details so the team can look into it further.

Again, I disagree.

It appears to only be areas that the core might traverse.

That was my finding as well. My issue turned out to be layered or stacked areas. ALL of the stacked areas need the snow throw direction set. And that kind of makes sense from a theoretical programing point of view. If I have a location to the rover and its is located in 3 layers of work areas, a pathway, and a sidewalk which item is selected to create the work scenario?

Its complex….

Not if you could assign areas, etc to specific modules.

I’ve been advocating for that.

We all have.

Sure seems like a “must do” versus a ‘we are evaluating your feedback and will consider it for a future upgrade’.

I sincerely hope we have assigned zones per module before Spring. Even earlier would be wonderful.

I’ll 32nd that!

a 32nd is pretty small….

If only there was the ability to label areas with the appropriate module type…

Oh wait
