Why do you have to define snow throwing directions on pathways that aren’t used for snow removal? It won’t let you run a plan until all pathways used or not have a throwing direction.
It’s worse than just pathways, its areas Yarbo will need to pass through even if you dont plan on blowing snow in them.
Agreed @ken.w.gregory
Hi there! Based on the current algorithm, Yarbo may use all available areas and pathways to travel when completing a work plan. Because of that, the system requires snow-throwing directions to be set on all pathways and areas to ensure smooth operation. We understand this may be confusing, and we’ve already passed your feedback to our product team.
The snow blower really shouldn’t have free rein of all areas. I’d really rather it not be out snow blowing my mowing areas trying to travel to my driveway. It should follow any pathways I’ve defined for it to get there. That pathway and the driveway should be the only required snow throw areas to be set. It used to work this way. I think this way was better.
Wait. Does this mean the snowblower ‘might’ drive through any area on the map to get to the dock?
If yes, think about the potential damage those studded tracks may cause to grass if Yarbo decides to drive across the grass for some reason.
Or think about how people tend to have things like Christmas decorations in their yards.
Yarbo snowblower simply CANNOT be allowed to randomly drive though areas of the property that weren’t specifically intended for snowblower travel. I think it’s safe to say that would be the customer’s expectation.
Points out the need for that “label” to filter by attached module.
Snow blower only sees areas that have been labeled “Snow Blower”. It should be noted that pathways and sidewalks will need to have the label added for filtering also.
Agree 100%. Strange that Yarbo might not have considered these types of scenarios.
Not might- mine 100% did. Disregarded the sidewalk and drove into my grassed yard area buzzed the rear of the docking station before I pushed “Big Red”.
Great point about the decorations.
I took a gamble on map saving working. I nuked the lawns along the route to the driveway and added a long pathway to get from Charging Station to driveway.
Hopefully the restore old map works as advertised. ![]()
It’s funny, cause all year long I’ve been warning Yarbo that there needed to be a way to isolate work areas for specific modules. The work areas really shouldn’t be ‘universal’ for a wide variety of reasons, and it just leads to clutter and confusion on the map.
This new bug just further reinforces the need to rethink their strategy on work areas. I think this should be a priority due the significant potential for so many downstream issues and problems.
how about if it is windy – can I change the snow-throwing direction mid-plan?
@rgloverii Hi there, I totally understand your concern Thanks for pointing this out — I’ve shared your feedback with our product team so they can take it into consideration.
@pengel Hi there, during an active work plan, the snow-throwing direction cannot be changed. Since the snow-throwing direction affects the route planning logic, this feature isn’t supported for now.
Got 2” of snow. Yarbo is currently useless. It tries to get to my driveway thru the yard instead of the snow blowing areas and gets ”track slippage” due to uneven terrain. Been trying to get it from the DS to my driveway (50’) for about 5hrs now. It won’t even make it back to the DS to charge without getting stuck. I guess if I’m going to be out in the cold <20deg, I might as well clean my driveway, less trouble.
After me repositioning it, I sent it to recharge, it immediately got track slippage, many times. Since it was going thru my yard, not a snow throw area, I put it in manual and drove it to the DS, parked it, with no problems. Made it with 8% bat. Of course. since the auger shut off, due to low battery, I had to clear it’s path manually.
Why would you have Yarbo clear driveways and such, blowing into yards and then have Yarbo have to traverse the same yard it just filled, to go to the DS?
Sometimes it feels like the developers/researchers don’t actually have a working knowledge of blowing snow, and sometimes mowing. During the live streams, the snow blower is in what looks like an underground parking lot converted to a snow room. If this is what’s being used for this testing and development, it may prove how unrealistic the logic is in multiple real-world scenarios and how the product doesn’t work as advertised (the set it and forget it approach) in multiple instances. I fully understand they can’t test all scenarios but some of these basic shortcomings really make me frustrated. Basic as in, throw this direction when doing this then…DON’T when doing this turn.
I really thought I’d be solid with the snowblower considering how long it has been developed but that’s proving to not be the case. The last thing I want is for my car to be damaged or a passing car to be hit.
Smart thinking.
Doh! I should have thought of that.
