I have been dealing with repeated issues where the Yarbo loses it’s gps lock and wanders off into the neighbors yard, runs into something, or mows flower beds. I have a light wooded yard. The repeated loss of GPS connection and wandering has caused multple RTK and Halo antenna failures.
After replacing the latest round of broken antennas + cables, I am no longer able to get a green GPS light on the app. I swapped antennas replaced cables, etc and no luck.
Does anyone know an advanced diagnostic method for the RTK system?
As a side rant, I am extraordinarily disappointed in this machine. Waiting weeks for replacements antennas only to have the machine work for a partial mow is unacceptable. I mistakenly cancelled my mowing service but I think I’ll reinstate it. From my research, I found the Yarbo warranty is non transferrable. Does that mean I am stuck with this POS?
THanks in advance for the input and not exiling me for the rant.
Your L2 antenna is the problem (the right one when facing the robot).
make sure the antenna is working (take the right one when facing the device, install it on the left and check if your satellites show up the same). If yes, this antenna is working. If not, you still have a faulty antenna.
Check again the connections.
If you can’t get any better L2 signal, open a ticket? Faulty RTK controller?
Agree with @Micke and that’s right as you face the rear of the device. If you replaced cables, make sure they are snug and didn’t get pinched or cut when you put the top back on. If after swapping left to right and right to left the L2 numbers don’t show and there’s no cable issues then it could be something in software or hardware on the core.
Warranties can be transferred, support can assist with that.
Most of the issues are all software ones or software induced. They are actively working on improving Dead Reckoning (DR) along with adding Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) which should help in situations like yours. Hopefully very soon. There’s also a hotfix coming that will help some with GPS issues some too.
I’m curious what bypass mode you are using? Are you using gentle contact mode or something like moderate bypass? If you have areas that have weak GPS causing it to go out of bounds, it might help to actually switch those areas to moderate bypass. Just make sure the cameras stay clean. It will miss more grass avoiding stuff but if you do checkerboard pattern or something like it, you can usually hit the missed stuff on the second cut. Hope that helps.
I’m really sorry to hear about your experience. I’ve reviewed your support ticket, and it has already been escalated to our FSE team for further investigation. We completely understand your frustration, especially after repeated issues.
As Bryan mentioned, we’re actively working on improvements, including dead reckoning and visual-inertial odometry, to enhance Yarbo’s performance in environments with weak or no GPS signal. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding, and we’re committed to bringing you a better Yarbo experience moving forward.
