Obstacle avoidance inconsistent

Not all my grass is the same type. Some of it is in dense fast-growing clumps. For some reason, the mower thinks this grass is an obstacle to go around. Then, yesterday, it ran over a plastic flower pot that was almost as big as a gallon jug. I did a manual run on the grass in question yesterday, and it did not appear to dodge it today. It will also intermittently abandon actions passing my vehicles that are in marked no-go zones.

My grass has some “spots” too. Give gentle contact a go for a mowing or two.

Same area as the cable problem. That’s how I got stuck.

This is the way.

You don’t need to leave it this way forever. Only until the grass has evened out and you no longer have the random tall spots that Yarbo sees as obstacles to avoid.

You can create a vision zone for that area and adjust the vision settings to be what you need it to be. Off or on.

Is that what vision zones do, I thought it was for patrol mode.

Alright, today’s takes the cake, Yarbo backed into the corner of a strip of lawn that runs parallel to the road so it could start its trip back to the charging pad. Suddenly, it decided that it was blocked in. Big red square in front of the mower. Nothing visible through the camera, and it had to have just been where it thought the obstacle was. I used vision mode to drive past, so it’s not a real problem, but definitely confusing.

Is this the pro mower large metal blades, or the M1 original with the razor blades?

If you have the time it happened, submit a ticket so they can pull the logs and see if they can figure it out.

It sees the slight elevation rise at the field edge as an obstacle, route corrects to the right cutting the off angle stripe seen. It leaves an entire strip unmowed, and never goes back to get it. Boundry Avoidance is off. I’ve given up on vison. Gentle Contact is the only option that’s reliable. The cameras are also reporting Blocked a lot more this year even when completely clean. Not sure what they’re using to train the vision, but it’s not working.

Was using gentle contact today and the yarbo got stuck at a tree. It just kept trying to go the same route, even backtracked when I tried manually by passing the tree, going strait back to the tree. Added to ticket .

Thanks for sharing the details—this is very helpful. As others have suggested, you could try using Gentle Contact mode or setting up a vision zone for those problematic areas, which may help the mower handle uneven or dense grass more consistently.

For the issue with getting stuck near the tree, I’d recommend setting the tree as a no-go zone. This can help Yarbo better plan its route and avoid getting stuck in that area in the future.

Hope this helps, and feel free to keep us updated!
