Random obstacle detection

Since the latest firmware update the Yarbo is detecting random obstacles in the middle of the yard. In one area of a pathway I have to take manual control every time since it thinks there are obstacles all around and won’t continue.

I have cleaned all of the cameras. Restarted the Yarbo and RTK. At the time I am writing this and the Yarbo is running there are cloudy skies so there are no shadows.

Is there a new sensitivity setting or something?

Thanks!

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue.

As a temporary workaround, you can try setting the Obstacle Avoidance Mode to Gentle Contact and disabling the Use Vision option. Please also make sure to set up No-Go Zones around any areas where there could be potential risks.

In the meantime, could you please submit a support ticket with details of the issue? Our team will further investigate and work to identify the root cause.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We’ll do our best to help resolve this.

Why aren’t we seeing any improvements in the vision? This is a heavily promoted feature in marketing materials to this day, and it just doesn’t work. There has been no improvement since the 2024 core release, and many would argue it’s gotten substantially worse.

Seems extra afraid of shadows lately

They tell us to charge in the shade, so I put a fabric dog house over it, and now it is too scared to leave the dock.
Also very scared of crossing a concrete pad, must be afraid of crossing a concrete crack?

Vision Zone set to No Vision at the doghouse if you haven’t.

I am like the rest of the sheep, I have to turn it all off, otherwise it will get scared in another 5 feet of movement.

Yep, mine starts to be afraid of the garage if a shadow is cast when it’s attempting to dock, and keeps finding random “objects” in the yard, mostly around parts that have shadows

Unfortunately for now I think vision needs to be set to off completely if you want to avoid these annoying issues.

Hopefully the vision related features will be revised and will be reliable in the future. But right now I think vision causes more problems than it solves.

The one thing to remember - Ensure your work areas have no go zones around anything you don’t want Yarbo to bump into.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I’ll pass this along to our team for further evaluation. As a temporary workaround, you can try adjusting the obstacle avoidance settings to help reduce false detections.

I have most areas set to gentle contact now…but that’s also how I lost a kiddie pool, a soccer ball, and a Kayak…

Don’t you just love AI vision object detection. Marketing says it is industry leading. Oh wait for some reason you turned it off. jk

Hi there, we’re sorry to hear about the damage caused.

For the kiddie pool, could you please confirm whether you had already set it as a No-Go Zone? If it was set as a No-Go Zone and Yarbo still entered the area or made contact with it, please submit a support ticket so our team can further investigate and assist you.

That one I don’t have a NGZ for as it gets placed differently throughout the yard. I had the area on sensitive bypass which avoided the pool, but then it got further along and was missing a lot of grass so I switched it to gentle contact and forgot that it still had the perimeter to mow. Somewhat a user problem but if any of the vision zones would have been on it would have avoided it:melting_face:

Since last update mine is seeing imagery stuff everywhere. Plans stops after tearing up the yard trying to go around a ghost.

Same thing here. I’ve had to make more NGZ’s and switch to gentle contact.

I found that if we turn off vision however it will go out of perimeter… there are bushes all around my mowing area so with vision on it sees them and don’t go out. But if I turn off vision it goes out of bounds and either destroyed stuff or goes under bushes and snaps antennas… At this point I prefer missed spots to having my Yarbo wandering out or bound…

Maybe a rollback to 3.13.5 would be the safest while they figure out what is happening?

Hi there, as a temporary workaround, you can try adjusting the obstacle avoidance setting to Gentle Contact and setting up No-Go Zones to help the work plan run more smoothly.

If you are using the Mower Pro, please also try disabling the ultrasonic sensors to see if this helps improve the behavior.

At the same time, please submit a support ticket so our team can further investigate the issue and provide additional assistance.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.
