Replacement core won't recognize charging station and significant GPS displacement

We’ve seen your update in the support ticket. Our FSE team will review the latest information and get back to you soon. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you very much!

@Yarbo-Forum

Support directed me to leave it on the dock overnight so they could run some diagnosis and to not plug it into the wired charger. Although I charged it up to 100% last night before putting it on the dock as instructed, it is now down to 56% and appears to be losing approximately 4% of charge per hour. At what point should I go ahead and plug it back in?

I have left the same question in the support ticket, but with the backlog, I am unsure if they will see it before the core battery is completely dead.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

I would plug it back in at 20%.

I agree that 20% would seem to be prudent if I don’t hear back before then.

From a silver lining perspective, it seems to be a very predictable drain on the battery of about 1% every 15 minutes. Although that seems somewhat higher than my understanding of what is normal, I’m OK waiting to address that problem on another day.

If I can just get the automatic charging working again, so I can have a little freedom in my schedule to not be plugging and unplugging every few hours that would be great. :+1:

I’m used to seeing a couple % per hour just sitting.

Ask them to analyze your battery because that drain sounds too much if it’s out in a good GPS location.

I am ecstatic to report that the field service engineers reached out to me that they have identified the problem as a faulty. Bluetooth function of the dock and will be replacing the dock for me!

Thank you to all those in the community for your technical and moral support.

Thanks Bryan, I added that to the ticket. It had closed but this reopened it.

The GPS caveat in your note does cause me some pause for contemplation. It often has a strong GPS signal, but it does vary, particularly when the core is idle for awhile. Once I “awaken” it by just moving it a few inches and waiting a few seconds it frequently shows as green again. I have always assumed that was normal behavior and haven’t worried about it.

When waking the core, the GPS can take 30-60 seconds to converge sometimes. This is expected. Anything longer, then your dock is probably not in an optimal location. If it takes 5-10 mins with the app open to get a green GPS, definitely not optimally placed. Note that this can vary based on the time of day and weather conditions. But on average at any point, it should be almost immediate when in a good location.
