Got a replacement S1 and I am hearing a noise I have never heard before. It sounds like when a washing machine gets in a rhythm with a load of laundry and tub is bouncing off the side of the washing machine wall a little bit. Makes a drone/thumping/grinding noise. I did not notice this on my original S1. You can kinda hear it sync up with the amber light towards the end. First outing with the replacement right out of the box.
Ticket 150334
Here is a link to the video:
Looks like it is snow covered. Perhaps it’s just ice buildup on the impeller. The sync may just be a coincidence. Can you thaw it in the garage and see if the noise is still there?
I will again and have thawed it. I’ll post a longer video tomorrow so it’s a little more obvious. It’s a little hard to pick up with the normal S1 sounds. Sounds like I’m dragging a rusted out pickup truck behind me.

Maybe you’ll have a better chance of localizing the sound’s origin by removing the module and rotating the auger manually??
Also, does the module appear to be new or refurbished?
Hope you figure it out soon.
Does it go away under load or just change? My replacement S1 did sound a little different, but not odd
It appears to be new.
If I turn it manually I don’t hear much. It really starts knocking at impeller speed 1 and gets less noticeable as the impeller speed increases.
It doesn’t go away under load. As the module gets lower to the ground it gets worse. If I go full send and set the module height to 0.00 it’s sounds like I’m pulling a snow throwing washing machine around.
Anything rubbing inside the core? Belt look ok?
Nothing I can see in/on the core. I can’t see any rubbing inside the snow box. I checked the belt after the first couple passes yesterday because it sounded so wonky. Belt looks perfect.
Sounds like something is causing a vibration.
Is your auger bouncing up and down at all? Seen a couple that looked like it was unbalanced, but I think those may have just been ice buildup.
Good call. No, seems balanced. Looks uniform while it spins as well.
Have you opened a ticket with support and sent them the video(s)? They could diagnose if it’s ok or not.
Yeah, I did. I’m curious because this is definitely an additional sound.

You could also record the current output from the diagnostic screen at each power level and we can share with you ours
Good call. I’ll do that next run. No snow now. It all stopped from this morning.
In other news. S1 scraper bar met some ice. It impeded forward movement but the tracks kept pressing forward to break the tension. This cause the rear to swing out (basically making a left) and broke the sidewalk boundary. It pressed on. Sucked up an object outside the sidewalk. Tried to find it in the yard. Couldn’t. Assuming it was a rock.
Shear pins in tact. Impeller fin collapsed and the core immediately powered off.
Trying to post this under the original ticket of the knocking sound. I wonder if the impeller was causing the noise after all.
Sidewalks still being run in reverse.
Knocking Noise:
Prevalent in the first couple seconds.
Reverse Sidewalk:
The S1 was using the sidewalk to transition to a pathway that runs out the street and goes left to my other driveway. It decided to run that part of the transition in reverse.
Sorry to hear that. You think you can bend it back in place if they approve it (at least until they can send you a new one)?

I can’t. The weld has broke the perimeter flanges are now is making contact with the snowbox inside.
Is there a video on how to replace it?
