Second guessing this switch

I’m starting to really second guess buying and switching from my Luba to Yarbo. It was getting better but my yard keeps looking worse and worse over time. I have ruts and worn out patches, tall grass from mowing schedules missed because of errors gone unnoticed with no push notifications and constant baby sitting. We just got back from being gone for a week traveling and found our yard about foot tall. Yarbo sitting about a foot off the charger pad dead. After getting it pushed over to the patio I got it back online to find that the error it threw was Cutting Height Motor Drive Issue. So it drove off the charger through the error and just sat and died. Now I am trying to troubleshoot again another error. This time the disc are all the way up at the highest position and won’t come down and I can’t see anything behind the disc. They move freely so it’s nothing jamming the mowing motors.

It’s just the constant troubleshooting over and over then getting no support for days after putting in a ticket and then they just tell you to reboot and all is fine. But again my yard is tore up and looks like shit. I do have nice stripes in the long runs but around the edges not so much. My Luba was getting to the point it was dialed in and I didn’t mess with it for a whole season. I haven’t even made it a week yet.

Sorry for the long rant but I can’t be the only one getting tired of it. I bought every attachment and part except the pro deck.

Hi there,

I’m really sorry to hear about your experience with Yarbo so far.

First, regarding the push notifications — we completely understand how important timely alerts are, and improving this is already on our optimization list.

As for the worn-out patches and ruts, you might try adjusting the route rotation angle and route pattern settings to see if it helps reduce repeated wear on the same areas.

Are you currently experiencing any other issues? I’d be happy to look into your case and help get things resolved as quickly as possible.

We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this has caused, and we truly appreciate your patience and feedback.

The wear spots are around the boundary not the middle of the yard. The middle of the yard is nicely striped and looks great when it runs. But now it’s sitting on charge with height motor error until I can take the disc off and inspect behind them. I wrote this post and didn’t finish but there was the smallest amount of grass under the guard bracket. I cleaned that out and it finally came down to 4” so I could clean the entire mechanism. I don’t expect perfect but again it’s constant babysitting with it and I didn’t have that before. (This backyard is 21 year old established grass.)

What turning method & mowing pattern did you select?

You will likely be happier if you remove those guards and brackets. I waited WAY TOO LONG before removing them.

I’ve tried smart turn and now u turn. It’s not at the turns. It’s on the border. I have ruts at spots where it continues to go over and over. Also it has got stuck for no reason and spun out causing holes.

this picture on around the edge of the flower bed/patio. There is nothing there. When it was mapped I purposely made it a soft turn. You can tell from the picture but that top part is like 5 inch deep rut where I found it one day just spinning out.

The main part of the guards came off day one. Learned that from my Luba. I just now took off the rest of the mounting bracket to clean it and left those off. Far better for that portion.

UPDATE: Reliability issues again. Left for 2 weeks to travel with my family and never received any alert that Yarbo wasn’t charging or had an error running its scheduled mow and found it offline on day 2 of the trip. I couldn’t tell my mother in law to plug it in because she couldn’t move it. When I got home to my foot tall grass I found the unit about a foot down the charger pad sitting there dead. After plugging it in it came online to a power board error. After a reboot and move back to the pad it charged to 100% and now is out on a mow. I just can’t take having no notification or it just being smart enough to go back to charge if there is an error with the scheduled mow. Come on Yarbo do better.

I agree that app notifications need to be reliable and helpful. This is a base level expectation from any modern app.

Hard to justify the current state of Yarbo’s in app notifications, but hopefully the situation will be resolved soon, for the benefit of everyone.

Just found it with error on side of the house with track slippage in another patch of no grass it made with no notification. It also backed itself up into the bush and hit the stop button. :man_facepalming:t2:

Now my unit sits with a power board issue. The mower deck won’t turn on at all and after many reboots the error still exists. I think it’s time for a new core. Dead in the water :skull_and_crossbones:.

@bkilgore91 Hi there, I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing. This looks like something that will require a closer look from our support team. We’ve escalated your case to our field service engineer for further investigation. Thank you for your patience while we work to get this resolved for you.

I used to think I should have taken pictures of my lawn to show how much cleaner it became because of Yarbo, now I want the pictures to look back at my lawn when it still had grass. I feel sorry for your lawn, but I’m glad I’m not alone.

Yea with my Luba I had some spot but after I had it dialed it was stripes. Got so many comments. Hopefully next season this thing will be dialed in and I’ll have my bare spot fixed and not look like the hillbilly with the $7k robotic lawnmower and shitty looking yard.
