It would be nice for Yarbo to have a security function that we can turn on at night etc. It wouldn’t take much in software. The idea is just have the option to turn a security/person function on. So at night if anyone approaches Yarbo it alerts them their presence is detected and notifies user with push notifications etc.
I would love to have this mode enabled any time the Yarbo is idle on the charging pad.
How about an option when a Work Plan is running, too? My rover will be around a corner 300 feet away. If anyone approaches it, I’d like a notification.
Maybe a general option to “Notify when person approaches” and optionally “have Yarbo give a vocal warning” and have options for an on/off schedule, when charging, when working, always, and never/off.
That’s a great idea for enhancing security. We’ve passed your suggestion to our R&D team for consideration. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
I’d like to see this added as well. I watch kids all day approach it while it’s mowing. I’d love for it to notify them and hopefully that would encourage them to walk away. Maybe add something like the ED-209 warning in Robocop of X amount of time to comply or you will be terminated, lol. ![]()
Was this ever added? Almost a year later.
Not yet.
Hi there, thanks for checking in. After evaluation by our product team, this feature request has been considered a lower priority, so it hasn’t been scheduled for development at this time. We appreciate your understanding and your continued feedback.
Just stick ring doorbell on it ![]()
I was going to ask about this, one of the local special cases decided to load the Yarbo in his truck because it was cutting along the side of the road at the far end of my property. luckily a neighbor saw him and confronted him. he had e stopped the Yarbo. I did not get a notification until the Yarbo had been offloaded at my front door. If it had issued the warnings he may not have even tried to load it.
Hopefully you have a geofence setup. It would’ve definitely made an alarm and notified you when leaving that boundary. I realize it’s too late at that point. Glad your neighbor caught them in the act.
He did not get far enough to trigger it, That is another point of contention, with the accuracy of everything else why is the geo fence a hand drawn line on a cell phone. no accuracy at all when you shrink a 6 acer property down to a 4 in screen. An algorithm to make a smooth loop around all defined areas with a selectable buffer would be much better.
Unfortunately, while it is still within the rough boundary of your property there is no good solution. Even if it used your maps, and set the geofence from 10 feet from your boundary lines, this still wouldn’t have been mitigated. If you think about it, you don’t really want your Yarbo squawking at you if you have to pick it up to get it unstuck, as that would only make a difficult situation more stressful. The geofence is mainly designed for someone who picks up your Yarbo and runs, less so someone who pull us to the very edge of your property and throws in in the back of their truck. I’m curious if anyone has any unique solutions to this troubling scenario.
It could easily be disabled by a Bluetooth connection. 10 feet would be a lot better than the 50 feet it currently can go, with no notification until the thief is driving away with the robot. A 5-foot border still gives half a car width, that would be much better. This level of accuracy is not available on the touch screen
I use an apple tag.
@rutkie Brilliant! Had not thought about doing that. Will be buying one today.
