Yarbo 23 won't finish booting

On 7/10/26, I sent my Yarbo out to mow, and it reported not being able to see out of the right camera, and some detection in the tail sensor. In the case of the camera, a restart has usually fixed the issue.

However, it seems that this might have been the worst possible time for a restart, as it ended up unable to finish booting, with the usual cycling of colors. Yarbo Tool is a no-go, and I suspect the security fixes may have cut this functionality.

I started a ticket (#222070) and it basically came down to an announcement that this was no longer supported, and suggested an upgrade with a discount. I’m still mulling that over, as this was not a cheap piece of hardware.

I’ve tried restarts, interrupts, leaving it overnight without a battery, letting it try to boot for hours (even bringing out an extension cord so it wouldn’t die).

Are there any other escalations remaining? I find it frustrating that an “unsupported” machine was bricked by an update that it was working fine prior to. Updates have been a mixed bag ever since the emergency security patch. (GPS has had hiccups, and despite giving the fence a wide berth, Yarbo still tried to push against it)

Are there other access points? Like the peripheral used to plug in the HaLow?

Anyway, throwing this out there before I ponder the upgrade, as I have the mower and both blowers (leaf and snow) from the early backer package, and it sounds like they won’t be compatible. It’s been a nice piece of hardware (the neighbors and passers-by like it), I’d hate to scrap it so soon over a software issue.

Not sure there is much you can do without support’s assistance. There aren’t too many out there left of the 23’s I believe. I would consider the upgrade. You should get a full 2 year warranty with it and it should also be eligible to purchase the additional 3 year extended warranty. They seem committed to supporting the 24 for the long haul.

Hi there, thank you for sharing all the details, and we’re truly sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this situation has caused.

Since the 2023 model has been discontinued, we no longer have the original manufacturing and repair lines available to provide the same level of maintenance support or individual replacement parts for this version. This is why we offered an upgrade option with a discount to help you transition to the newer model.

The 2024 model has undergone significant hardware and system upgrades, so unfortunately, the modules from the 2023 model are not compatible with the 2024 model.

We truly appreciate your support as one of our Kickstarter backers and understand your attachment to the original Yarbo. We also understand that it is frustrating to have a device that was working before become unusable, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these product transitions.

Thank you again for being part of the Yarbo community. We hope the upgrade option can provide you with a more reliable long-term experience.
