Since I’m waiting on my Mower Pro, I figured it was a good time to “detail” and get some UV protection on the Core. I’ve read others talking about the paint fading kind of quickly and noticed the same in videos. Countless products exist but I’ve been a fan of AMMO car cleaning products (I have no affiliation with them) for a long time so that’s what I used on the Yarbo as I already had everything for this project.
For the cleaning I used the AMMO Foam Paint Cleanser. After rinsing off the soap I left it air dry in the garage. I did use a clean microfiber to assist in the drying.
I then applied the AMMO Reflex Foundation Coat on the yellow paint. This is a sheeting paint coating designed to sheet water, and contaminants, off the paint vs beading which can look cool but tends to allow contaminants to settle on the paint.
Finally, I used AMMO Skin which is a sealer and UV protector. This will be applied every 3-6 months…or as I remember.
As for the difference, not much as my Yarbo is brand new. But, longer term, I hope to continue having a nice looking unit. That is, unless it decides to go out of bounds and give itself some scars.
I always feel a bit embarrassed when seen by neighbors, and I am cleaning my Yarbo. Glad to see I am not the only one who likes a neat yard and a clean mower. I also keep it covered in a curved tent structure that keeps rain and sun out, but allows GPS to connect.
I routinely leaf blow and wash mine. I also applied ceramic coating to it. I would not be embarrassed for someone to see me cleaning it. I consider it just good maintenance. Let us know if you notice any fading with that product. I like the new deep yellow but the lighter yellow also has its charm.
It’s called Ammo Skin Defense Seal. I use Ammo products on my cars and figure why not use the same on Yarbo. I clean with Ammo Foam Paint Cleanser then dry off with Ammo Hydrate (it’s a drying aid).
It feels good to convert Yarbo to the next season. Giving it a good wash is a nice reset and a great reason to check it over for any items that may need to be addressed.
